It might create a stark outlined look that reminds one of a harsh crayon outline. - Be sure your neutral strips of wool are on the darker side and avoid using pure white and pure black wools. - Use different widths of strips. People did not have fabric cutters in the past so they cut each strip by hand with a pair of scissors. Uneven strips will make your piece appear vintage. - Primitive hooked rugs allow us to use what we have. Color is important even with our beloved muted colors.
