Start hooking in the center of your rug. Just choose a doodle and hook that shape. Continue hooking all of the shapes you have drawn on your foundation. 2. When your shapes are hooked, start to fill in around them. Remember you are doodling, so let your hook go in any direction it wants to go. Gradually, fill in areas and build up colors in the rug. 3. Before you get too close to the border, hook two to four rows around the edge to firm up the shape and keep the edge of your rug neat and tidy. In Doodle, I hooked the fourth row from the edge in a darker color. In Doodle Green, I hooked three rows in colors just as the strips came out of the basket. 4.  To finish your rug, use your own favorite finishing method, press it with a damp cloth, then stand back and admire. 5.
