We didn't get a single winner-take-all game in any of the LDS series. There's a pretty good chance we're going to get one or two in the LCS, based on what we've seen in the first two games of both series. [Mookie Betts]( doubled twice, [Jackie Bradley]( drove in three runs and the Boston bullpen came up huge in a 7-5 victory over the Astros to even the ALCS at a game a piece. The Red Sox got to [Gerrit Cole]( early in this one, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning to give them a 2-0 lead. [David Price]( quickly gave up that lead, however, as [George Springer]( doubled in a pair of runs in the second, and an inning later, [Marwin Gonzalez]( smashed a two-run homer to give the Astros a 4-2 lead. That lead lasted all of a half-inning, as Bradley hit a double with the bases loaded to score three runs. It was one of the oddest doubles you'll see, as the ball was just fair and then bounced on the wall like tightrope artist while Gonzalez chased it like a cat attempting to swat at a toy. While the offense was certainly up to the task, the big story here was how good the Boston bullpen was. [Craig Kimbrel]( did allow a run in the ninth, but after Price exited, [Matt Barnes](, [Ryan Brasier]( and [Rick Porcello]( not only didn't allow a run, they didn't give up a hit against the loaded Houston lineup. If there's a concern, it's that Kimbrel didn't look great again, allowing two hard hit balls off the Green Monster to allow the run, and [Alex Bregman]( didn't miss tying the game by much. A loss here would have been a disaster for the Red Sox. The next three games will be played in Houston, and it's tough enough to win a game there, much less two to keep your season alive. The Astros still should be considered favorites because of their homefield advantage, but we definitely have a series now. [Dallas Keuchel]( will start for Houston in Game 3 on Tuesday, while the Red Sox haven't announced who the starter will be. [Nathan Eovaldi]( or perhaps Porcello on short rest are the current candidates, with Eovaldi being the favorite to get the nod. Sale Hospitalized with Stomach Illness The Red Sox picked up the victory, but they got some potential series' changing news on Sunday. [Chris Sale]( was sent to the hospital with a stomach illness. The Red Sox sent a statement that the left-hander will be kept overnight for further evaluation, and that the team will issue updates when they're available. We obviously can't speculate on Sale's availability going forward, but this would obviously be a huge loss for the Red Sox. While Sale hasn't been dominant in his playoff appearances -- outside of his relief outing in Game 4 of the ALDS -- he's still the clear ace of the team, and there's at least a chance we won't see Sale at 100 percent for the rest of the series. We should know more about his availability on Monday. Quick Hits: Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that Indians general manager Mike Chernoff will not interview for the Mets' general manager job ... The Athletics sent LHP [Dean Kiekhefer]( and OF [Jake Smolinski]( outright to Triple-A Nashville ... The Marlins sent LHP [Chris O'Grady]( outright to Triple-A New Orleans ... C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports that the Reds interviewed Rays coach [Rocco Baldelli]( for their managerial opening last week. Baldelli is the 12th known candidate to interview for the position ... Dodgers' manager [Dave Roberts]( announced Sunday that [Yasmani Grandal]( will start behind the plate for Game 3 of the NLCS against the Brewers. Grandal has struggled in the series, particularly on defense in Game 1. Rotoworld.com © 2018 You received this newsletter because you are a registered subscriber of Rotoworld.com's Daily Dose.
