And what it tells us about the "elite" ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ We all know about the fall of FTX, the cryptocurrency exchange that once looked like the next big thing. I can't help but wonder if the people on the inside knew the fall was coming. According to a new lawsuit, the exchange itself is suing Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder for one billion dollars. It alleges that he and other executives basically skimmed off the top of the company for their own gain. The charitable foundation FTX ran is accused of putting forward "misguided and sometimes dystopian" schemes that supposedly cloaked themselves in "effective altruism." The best part was when they supposedly put forward a plan to buy Nauru (an independent island nation in the Pacific) in case civilization collapsed. (What the people of Nauru would think about this plan was evidently not explained). They would build a "bunker/shelter" that could prove useful after "some event where 50-99.99% of people die." (That and have "sensible regulation around human genetic enhancement, and build a lab there.") Obviously, it didn't work out and Sam Bankman-Fried is now on trial for fraud. But you have to wonder how many crazy schemes the rich and powerful are coming up with that we won't find out about. We know that a whole host of entrepreneurs have also toyed with the idea of having a bugout in the Pacific in case civilization collapses, as well as flirting with human genetic enhancement. The biggest thing I've learned about mixing with the rich and powerful and doing the research on the big names... They've all got an exit plan. They won't go down with the ship if things go wrong. We have to be ready to look out for ourselves. No one else will. Keep Moving, Corey Snyder Publisher, Rogue Publishing The Goal Is Simple: Strike your target and extract your capital - and do this as quickly as possible. The mission begins tomorrow at 2PM EST. Limited seating available. [Reserve your spot here.]( WORD ON THE STREET American Airlines Scrambles To Avoid Labor Trouble - China Tries To Kickstart Economy - China's economic failures have been the big surprise of 2023 (well, not to our own Mr. X, but to others). China is now reversing course on its previous pledges to avoid stimulus spending. The Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party, in a rare joint statement, have vowed to treat private and state owned businesses the same in their stimulus programs. - American Boosts New Pilot Contract - American Airlines has raised its offer for a contract for new pilots by more than one billion dollars. Airline pilots will begin voting on the deal today, as the company vows to return to negotiations if the union doesn't approve it. American Has Now Matched United's Pay And Benefits Package - Putin Hosts Lukashenko - Russian president Vladimir Putin says Ukraine's counteroffensive has "failed." An optimistic Putin hosted Belarussian leader Alexander Lukashenko in Moscow amid reports that Wagner paramilitary fighters stationed in the country are itching to attack Poland. Not a big deal, it's not like an attack on Poland has ever started a major European war before. - Trump Holds Lead In SC Primary - President Donald Trump has a commanding lead in the South Carolina primary, with former governor Nikki Haley in second place. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is down to the third, another sign in how the onetime favorite has faded in the polls. HOT SPOTS: What's Going on in Geopolitics - Spain Faces Political Gridlock After Close Election - An unexpectedly strong showing by the socialists in Catalonia defied predictions of a right-wing victory in the Spanish elections. No coalition can form a majority without seeking support from smaller regional parties, raising the possibility of political gridlock. - China Tests Taiwan Again - China tested Taiwanese air defenses by sending dozens of warplanes near its airspace. The provocation comes just days before a major Taiwanese drill designed to test the island's ability to defend itself from invasion. - Moscow Hit By Drone Strikes - Two non-residential civilian buildings in Moscow were hit by drones in an attack that Russia blamed on Ukraine. Ukraine has not commented. There were no reported casualties and Russia claimed the drones were destroyed. CUTTING EDGE: What[']( Happening In Tech - AI Agrees To Safeguards - Seven companies including Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Inflection, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI agreed to limits on AI including public reports on capabilities and researching risks. "This is a serious responsibility, we have to get it right," said President Joe Biden. - Schools Sue Social Media Companies - I remember the days when people would make fun of people blaming video games or music for the kids these days. But apparently it's ok to blame social media companies. School systems around the country are suing YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat and other platforms for allegedly exploiting kids. Social media is arguing its liability shield protects it from such suits. - Twitter Is DEAD - The absolute madman finally did it. The bird app is dead as Elon Musk is rebranding it to X. X Corp is already the official name, but Musk aims to end Twitter entirely in a rebrand. Behold the form of the destroyer FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION --------------------------------------------------------------- My colleague Corey Snyder predicted oil prices would go far higher this year, largely because of circumstances due to the continuing war in Ukraine. That war shows no signs of ending. Is the oil boom finally on its way? Goldman Sachs says it is coming. Mr. X breaks down the report and says what to expect.
