Musk Is Moving To Tackle World's Biggest Website - Flat Tires - Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co (GT) missed revenue expectations. CEO Richard Kramer blamed "persistent inflation" as well as the effects of a "stronger US dollar" and a "less certain outlook in Europe." Raw material and energy costs are also expected to pose a challenge in the fourth quarter. GT was down by more than 9% in after-hours trading. - Liquidity Crunch Could Lead To Crisis - Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen recently said her department has "been looking very carefully at the Treasury market," something she said is "critical." As liquidity dries up around the world, there may be fewer buyers for for Treasury bills, leading to a sell-off and a demand for higher yield payments. That could massively raise interest rates on all sorts of debt instruments - and pose a crushing blow to Americans' standards of living. On June 15, President Biden said that he had authorized another $1 billion in aid when the Ukrainian president said Kyiv needed additional help. President Biden reportedly snapped that Ukraine should be more appreciative about all the help it is already getting. Both Washington and Kyiv have said that the partnership "has only improved since the June phone call."  - America Sends B-52s To Australia - While the United States is mostly focused on defending Ukraine, a recent report from the Pentagon identified China as the main threat. To counter it, the United States is sending as many as six B-52s to Australia. The "Stratofortress" is a long-range strategic bomber, capable of carrying 70,000 pounds of weapons - including nuclear weapons. Just one has the potential to inflict horrific destruction on any battlefield or strategic target - and Beijing is sure to take notice. CUTTING EDGE: What[']( Happening In Tech - Wait, Bacteria Could Cause Cancer? - There's been a dramatic growth in recent years of colorectal cancers, the second and third most common kinds of cancers in the world. Now researchers have found that some strains of the bacterium Morganella morganii produce toxic molecules that harm DNA and could be responsible for the development of cancer. More research must be done but if this cause could be nailed down, it would provide a huge target for therapies and a possible bonanza for biotech. The study can be found in the October 28 edition of the journal Science. - DHS Stepping Up Efforts To Control "Disinformation" – According to a report from The Intercept, the Department of Homeland Security has developed a formalized process for government officials to flag content on Facebook or Instagram and request it be taken down. The Intercept quotes an FBI official warning that certain material found online could undermine support for the government and saying that "we need a media infrastructure that is held accountable." Matt Materson, a Microsoft executive and former DHS official, is quoted as texting the DHS that "platforms have got to get comfortable with gov't." "It's really interesting how hesitant they remain," he added. I'll say. - China Launches Final Module For Space Station - If this were the computer game "Civilization," it's time for the USA to be getting nervous. China has successfully launched the 23 ton "Mengtian" module, which will dock with the Tiangong space station. The space station is proof of China's ambition to meet and eventually surpass the United States when it comes to space exploration.
