[JOIN US HERE!]( [] _________________________________________________ [] [] Consolidation Mode: Markets Likely to Tread Water Ahead of FOMC Minutes Markets are up slightly but it’s just random, and odds are we’ll be in a choppy consolidation pattern for the near term as we head into the election. The S&P 500 (SPY) is right at its eight-day moving average, and the best thing to do when you’re in a consolidation is wait for a pullback. The downgrade on the three FANG stocks, Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL) and Netflix (NFLX) has also put a damper on things. The bond market is sitting right at its 100-day moving average, and I don’t think it will break down unless something drastic happens… which means we’re likely to chop around. [The next catalyst could be with the FOMC minutes on Wednesday,]( but here’s a prediction: I don’t believe we’ll get another rate cut because of the strength of the last jobs report. I still like gold but there’s really no reason to buy it right now until we break the $2,690 level, where it’s consolidating. So if you’re long gold, it’s fine to stay long, but I wouldn’t initiate any new positions.
