The smoke from the wildfires in Canada has settled over the city, bringing its distinctive — and hazardous — look, smell, and taste. Public health experts recommend staying inside where possible and wearing a good, well-fitting mask if you do have to go outside. Additionally, hold off on the jogging, or any other high-intensity, outdoor activity until the air clears. This is particularly true for older adults, young kids, and people with heart or lung conditions. These guidelines are certainly helpful — but they don't address the root of the problem. That's why in addition to promoting safety measures such as these, I'm committed to fighting for bold solutions to the climate crisis.
