ABC's The View took an unexpected turn this Thursday, with the hosts staging what seemed more like a group therapy session than a political talk show. The anxiety was palpable as they contemplated the possibility of former President Donald Trump returning to the White House for another term. As if on cue, each host had a fresh worry to share about Trump's potential impact, and, of course, their theories were as dramatic as they were unfounded. Whoopi Goldberg kicked things off, dismissing Trump's concerns about election interference-an ironic take, given the endless hand-wringing over supposed election meddling since 2016. Then came Sunny Hostin, who has apparently decided that Trump would launch all of America's nuclear weapons if given the chance. With no evidence to back up this doomsday scenario, Hostin then pivoted to defending Kamala Harris, who, despite being the self-declared "border czar," somehow isn't responsible for any of the current border crisis. Hostin's reasoning? Harris is "held to a different standard because there's a maniac on the other side." Right. Whoopi rages at Trump and proclaims that he's not allowed to talk about Democratic election interference. Sunny Hostin whines that Kamala is supposedly being held to a "different standard." Behar's assessment? "He'd have to work on being sane because he seems insane." Subtle, right? In a moment of unintentional comedy, the hosts went on to defend Harris's famously jumbled speaking style, claiming her circular rambling is "very important" because "statistically, you have to hear things three times to remember them." Translation: Kamala repeats herself because it's strategic, not because she's, well, struggling to make a point. Then Whoopi lashed out at undecided voters, declaring that anyone who isn't already firmly in the Biden-Harris camp is apparently beyond redemption. "If you don't know what you're doing now, I don't know what else to tell you," she huffed as if addressing a room full of toddlers. The View claims "it's very important" for Kamala speak in her rambling circular style of repeating herself because "Statistically you have to hear things three times to remember them." They also claim Kamala has only been around and in the race for "20 minutes." She seemed personally wounded that anyone would dare remain undecided, calling the choice a matter of "a candidate with credentials versus some kind of nut case." In the grand finale, Whoopi, visibly shaking with frustration, rounded out the segment by shouting directly at Trump-though she still refused to say his name. With all the rage she could muster, she yelled, "You lost!" Her conviction was clear, even if her grip on reality seemed a bit shaky. Joy Behar lashes out at undecided voter who wants the candidates to stop trashing each other and talk policy.Behar claims the voter is ignorant: "This woman doesn't know what she's talking about if you want my opinion." For a show that claims to offer perspectives, the one-sided meltdown over Trump's chances is a revealing look into what really has the hosts of The View rattled: the reality that they might just have to face another four years of Trump.
