Only 29% of Americans think Biden's economic policies have been a good thing for the country, a devastating number that will surely stir up panic in the White House and among his 2024 campaign staffers. The [poll also revealed]( that Trump is leading Biden 47% to 43% across the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. In addition, a majority of the voters in these states said the economy was better off under Trump than it is under Biden. Right now though, the [Israel-Hamas war]( is sucking up all the oxygen in U.S. media, and the conflict potentially gives the president a perfect wag-the-dog moment to help him weasel away from his shoddy poll numbers and failed domestic agenda. HOT OFF THE PRESS Moderates At The Gaetz: House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan [will support]( Speaker pro Tempore Patrick McHenry to be the temporary Speaker of the House until January after failing to receive the necessary 217 votes three times. Despite the setback, Jordan will remain the speaker designee. The Daily Caller [exclusively reported]( that moderate Republicans tanking Jordan's bid are only doing so out of "spite" for Matt Gaetz ousting Kevin McCarthy. The Caller [also scooped]( that McCarthy would give the speech nominating Jordan ahead of Friday's vote, a move that indicates Jordan could win over several moderate Republicans who previously supported McCarthy. Powell Flips On Trump: Sydney Powell [pleaded guilt]( to several misdemeanor charges in the Georgia 2020 election case just one day before jury selection. A top legal analyst [said]( Thursday that her guilty plea could be "devastating" for former President Donald Trump because she will now be able to testify for prosecutors in Georgia and Washington, D.C., and potentially dish out key insider information, all while avoiding jail time. Burt Dies Too Young: Legendary "Rocky" actor Burt Young, who also played roles in "Chinatown" and "Once Upon a Time in America," [died]( Tuesday at the age of 83.
