For the last several months, former President Donald Trump has dominated in the polls, both nationally and in key swing states. In April, the Republican National Committee outraised their opponents by nearly $25 million, though Biden's team still has more cash on hand than Trump. In light of these developments, even Democrats who were previously optimistic now have "a pervasive sense of fear" about the November election, according to Politico. "You don't want to be that guy who is on the record saying we're doomed, or the campaign's bad or Biden's making mistakes. Nobody wants to be that guy," a Democratic operative in close touch with the White House told Politico. The outlet granted the source anonymity in order to speak freely. "This isn't, 'Oh my God, Mitt Romney might become president.' It's 'Oh my God, the democracy might end,'" the source continued, adding that Biden's consistently grim poll numbers "are creating the freakout." Other Democrats expressed concern about the Biden campaign's strategy, the outlet reported. "There's still a path to win this, but they don't look like a campaign that's embarking on that path right now," Pete Giangreco, a Democratic strategist who's worked on several presidential campaigns, told Politico. "If the frame of this race is, 'What was better, the 3.5 years under Biden or four years under Trump,' we lose that every day of the week and twice on Sunday." Democratic Rep. Laurie Pohutsky of Michigan, a key swing state that Trump won in 2016 but lost in 2020, told Politico she has concerns about voters' motivations. "In 2020, there was enough energy to get Donald Trump out and there were other things on the ballot that brought young people out in subsequent elections," Pohutsky told the outlet. "That's not the case this time. I worry that because we've had four years with a stable White House, particularly young voters don't feel that sense of urgency and might not remember how disastrous 2017 was right after the Trump administration took over." One adviser to major Democratic Party donors told Politico that he keeps a running list of all the possible reasons why Biden could lose his reelection bid. The list notes the 81-year-old's age, third party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Vice President Kamala Harris and the border crisis. "Donors ask me on an hourly basis about what I think," the adviser told the outlet, adding that it's "so much easier to show them, so while they read it, I can pour a drink." "The list of why we 'could' win is so small I don't even need to keep the list on my phone," the adviser continued. HOT OFF THE PRESS Biden's New Foreign Fiasco: New problems are mounting for the Biden administration's $320 million floating Gaza aid pier which was already facing setbacks, despite becoming operational less than two weeks ago. The U.S. military was forced to [halt]( aid shipments to Gaza on Tuesday after the floating pier was damaged by bad weather over the weekend. The damage sustained from the bad weather is only the latest in a string of logistical and operational problems that have plagued the pier since it was constructed in mid May. "It's a horrible idea due to the challenges that we just saw basically wreck the whole project ... It was never a sound plan to begin with ... whether it's accidents, or logistical hurdles, or risk to our troops and all these problems that have come to fruition. I don't think that there should be any effort to try to continue this, or salvage it, or fix it," says Michael DiMino, senior fellow at Defense Priorities and former CIA and defense official. "I think now is an opportunity to say this failed. Let's wrap this up before we continue to tempt fate." Point-Blank Assassination: Disturbing footage [captured]( the moment an assassin gunned down Alfredo Cabrera, a Mexican mayor candidate, in front of hundreds of his supporters Wednesday. Cabrera was pronounced dead by authorities after being shot point-blank in the back of his head. Footage shows Cabrera at a campaign stop smiling and shaking hands with his supporters when a gunman appeared from behind and fatally shot him. The gunman then fired off a number of shots as the terrified crowd scattered and screamed. Another Biden Gaffe: President Joe Biden [did not answer]( if he would finish his first full four year term or give power to his vice president, instead poking fun at a reporter for questioning him on the topic. "President Biden, will you be serving your full four-year term or handing over power to Vice President Harris?" New York Post White House correspondent Steven Nelson asked. "Are you okay? Are you alright? You're not hurt are you? I said are you okay? Did you fall on your head or something?" Biden answered while standing in a photo line ahead of his campaign event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nelson at one point asked the president to come closer because he could not hear his response. "Take a look at the numbers now and compare it to where we were four years ago at this particular point among black voters and we see a clear decline in support," Enten said. "At this point, Joe Biden is just getting 70% of the black vote. Four years ago at this point, he was at 81%. Look at that doubling of support for Donald Trump, from 10% up to 21%. Boris, Brianna, if that held through the election, it would be the best performance for a Republican presidential candidate among black voters in 64 years, since Richard Nixon back in 1960."
