Will Richmond | Managing Editor Communities & R.I. [@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at [The Providence Journal]( and this is the Daily Briefing. I've been fortunate to cover elections for more than 20 years now and while recency bias is certainly in play, yesterday may have been one of the slower election days. I say this while admitting I wasn't in Cranston, where possibly the most heated primary race was taking place between Ken Hopkins and Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung for the mayoral Republican nomination. Instead, I spent most of the morning on Aquidneck Island checking the polls in Portsmouth and Middletown. In both towns, voters were trickling in to cast their ballots, and it while there was a lack of competitive local races, it was still great to see the few people who did vote take time out of their day to participate in democracy. It's certainly understandable that with the lack of races and the possibility you were too busy watching the Presidential debate you missed the results as they came in last night. There's nothing to fret, we've got you covered. [01_Primary_KC_09102024.JPG] Supervisor Laura Palmer chatting between voters at the Savoie elementary school in Woonsocket. Each day I'll share where Rhody Ranks from one of the latest emails. New data has unveiled the states that are searching for Donald Trump merchandise the most, with Rhode Island ranking second. Slogan t-shirt brand [Chummy Tees]( analyzed Google Trends data for search terms relating to Donald Trump merchandise, such as âTrump hat,â âMake America Great Again clothing,â and âTrump t-shirtâ for the previous 12 months from August 20, 2023. A total of 20 of the most searched-for terms relating to Trump merchandise were included in the study. Each state was allocated an average interest level out of 100, which was then used to rank the states. The âaverage interest levelâ refers to the level of search interest for each term compared to total searches within that region. [TODAY'S WEATHER]( ð¤ï¸ Partly sunny and pleasant.
