No, we're not talking about a bird. Rather, this 114-foot crane-topped barge has sat partially submerged since it sunk in a nor'easter in 2017. Since then there have been discussions to remove the structure, but concerns about pollution and cost have generally trumped any efforts to make it happen. Until now. The Journal's Antonia Farzan reports that money has been secured to remove the barge that has become a part of the South Providence scenery and there are plans to do more than just sink it to the bottom of the river.
