[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at [The Providence Journal]( and this is the Daily Briefing. Throughout the school year, our sports department combs the fields, courts, tracks and gyms to highlight the best high school players across Rhode Island. It's not an easy task. While we may not have the glitz and glamor of five-star recruits, Rhode Island is full of student-athletes doing incredible things in their respective sports. And while we honor those players after their season is complete with the naming of our All-State teams, we like to give them a little bit more than just their names in the paper. Last night we did just that at the annual All-State Rhode Island High School Sports Award show at the Veterans Auditorium. [_D0A4224.JPG] All-State Sports awards at the Vet on June 27, 2024. Not to mention who helped to build Oklahoma University into a college softball dynasty. • As we wait to learn more about the fate of Stop & Shops it raises the question of just how competitive they are in Rhode Island. To find out, The Journal's Paul Parker headed out to Bald Hill Road in Warwick and visited supermarkets to compare prices on popular items. [Here's what he found.]( • Rhode Island is full of excellent colleges and universities, but how do they stack up against schools across the country? The Journal's Wheeler Cowperthwiate checked in on the latest rankings from Money.com, which put seven of Rhode Island's [nine]( four-year colleges and universities in its "best college" designation.
