What happened to the House of Representatives?

Bills don’t get passed to help citizens as they struggle with inflation and the cost of living. Reproductive freedom is eroded day after day. The Supreme Court green-lights the gun lobby again and again and Americans pay with their lives. Respect for government is at an all-time low as Republican members like Majorie Taylor Greene degrade our institutions like never before. Vile performance art has substituted for law-making as the GOP battle for who can appease Donald Trump the most with varying acts of fealty — from suggesting he serve as Speaker of the House to suggesting the House expunge his impeachment. {NAME}, if there’s anyone who knows to what level Republicans will stoop to, it’s me. Every single day, I face personal attacks from MAGA Republicans calling me “shifty” “watermelon head” “pencil neck” and anything else they’ve heard from the mouth of their criminal leader. But even worse than the personal attacks, which I will gladly accept if that’s the price for defending our democracy, was what happened just one year ago. My censure. What was originally reserved for flagrant violations of the law or personal behavior unbefitting of a member of Congress is now frequently being used by Republicans to attack people they disagree with. I will never regret my work to investigate the former president for his efforts to destroy our democracy.
