Sales of electric pickup trucks are set to ramp up next year. Here are the best companies to play this trend. [Shield] AN OXFORD CLUB PUBLICATION [Profit Trends]( [View in browser]( SPONSORED [$10 Tech Stock Multiplies Profit 12-Fold in One Year!]( [Shape-Shifting Smartphone]( Groundbreaking new tech is being hailed as a "technological tour de force." And one company is seeing profits pour in. [See why Samsung, Tesla and Apple are all reportedly now working with this $10 stock.]( [How to Play the 2022 Electric Pickup Boom]( [David Fessler | Engineering Strategist | The Oxford Club]( [Dave Fessler]( More [pickup trucks]( are sold in the U.S. than any other type of vehicle. Take a look at the chart below. It shows all light vehicle sales in 2020. [Chart - Breakdown of Vehicle Sales]( Without light-duty truck sales, all the major automakers would likely go bankrupt. Every year, light-duty trucks produce the bulk of their revenues and profits. And now the big three automakers have all announced electric versions of their bestselling models. They'll start showing up in dealer showrooms in 2022. Perhaps you've been interested in investing in this segment of the [electric vehicle sector]( or you're interested in getting your hands on an EV. So let's take a look at the companies making electric pickups. The Big Three Ford Motor Company (NYSE: [F]( is going all-in on its shift to EVs. It's spending $11.4 billion to build a mega-campus in Tennessee and two battery plants in Kentucky. And when it comes to electric pickups, [Ford has a jump on its competition](. It's just a few months away from shipping the first all-electric F-150 Lightning models to dealers. The base model boasts a 230-mile range, with an option to increase to a 300-mile range with a larger battery. Since the Lightning debuted in May, Ford has taken 200,000 deposits for the truck. But the company is keeping its plans close to its vest. It hasn't said how many F-150 Lightnings it will make in 2022. Ford is hoping to win over its gas-powered F-150 customers with this electric model. It sells more than 100 F-150 gas pickups every hour, for about 900,000 per year. Customers can't get enough of them. And it's big business for the company. In 2018, revenue from the F-150 alone was $43 billion. According to Automotive News, if the F-150 were a company, it would be larger than McDonald's (NYSE: [MCD](. General Motors Company's (NYSE: [GM]( big pickup brand is the Chevrolet Silverado. Over the last three years, the company sold about 582,000 of them annually. The company will reveal its electric Silverado on January 5. Though the company has already announced that these top-of-the-line trim models [will have batteries]( that deliver "more than 400 miles" of range. GM is building the electric Silverado on its Ultium Platform. It plans to use that platform for other EV models as well. Based on its production schedule, the electric Silverado will hit dealer showrooms sometime in 2023. The popular Ram line of pickups is made by the truck division of Stellantis (NYSE: [STLA](. Over the last three years, Ram sales averaged 557,000 vehicles annually. This past summer, Stellantis indicated that an electric Ram 1500 pickup will be available in 2024. It also said the truck will beat the competition with a 500-mile battery range. Similar to GM, Stellantis has developed four EV platforms. It expects to build 14 brands that will each use one of the platforms. Additionally, the company has stated that all vehicles in the Ram series will have [some amount of electrification]( by 2025. SPONSORED [See How the Win-Both-Ways Trade Could Make You Up to 350% Overnight (Like It Did for Rick!)]( [Group Smiling]( Rick Carrier, December 8, 2020: "Got into Stitch Fix last night on a Win-Both-Ways play. In at $4.97, sold out first thing at $17.48 for a 350% win! Thanks for the help!" See how the Win-Both-Ways play can help you win BIG by [clicking here](. Other Pickup Producers In addition to those from the big three automakers mentioned above, there are other all-electric pickups coming. Tesla (Nasdaq: [TSLA]( expects to ship its long-awaited, futuristic-looking Cybertruck late next year. It offers all-wheel drive and is powered by four motors. Its battery range is similar to that of the Ram at 500-plus miles. Another pickup truck producer making headlines is Rivian Automotive (Nasdaq: [RIVN](. This high-end pickup truck company looks a lot like Tesla did when it first [went public](. The company delivered 11 of its trucks during the third quarter of 2021, resulting in about $1 million in revenue. Its net loss for the quarter was $1.23 billion, and it currently has a market cap of about $90 billion. It's currently boosting its annual capacity from 150,000 to 200,000 vehicles and will have a 400,000 vehicle-per-year capacity starting in 2024. Of the makers discussed, Rivian may look like a long shot. The big three manufacturers are well-established pickup makers - or, as in the case of Tesla, [an established EV maker](. Rivian is none of these. And it will have plenty of obstacles to overcome in the coming years. Take Your Pick Sales of electric pickups should start to ramp up next year. And there are models coming to suit just about every pickup owner's taste and budget. Even if you're not interested in buying an electric pickup truck, you may want to consider a miniature portfolio of the companies making them. There's a [huge tailwind in EVs]( and electric pickups are the next big thing that will drive shares upward. Good investing, Dave P.S. Electric pickup trucks aren't the only EV trend that is set to blossom next year. The country's EV charging network will grow rapidly in 2022!
