Family photos, and other fun. [image] Weekly Newsletter - July 9, 2019 Happy National Sugar Cookie Day! First off, I want to offer a big congratulations to one of our very first moderators here on PhotographyTalk - Scotty. He’s a dad now, so welcome to the real world, buddy! Being a dad is the best job there is, and I’m so happy you’ll get to experience that firsthand! Secondly, our friend Amber F. got to welcome home her husband who had been deployed for nearly a year. Just wanted to recognize the hard work and sacrifice of our servicemembers and their families! Onto gear talk... In case you missed it, last week I published an article on my initial impressions of the Zeiss 85mm f/1.8 Batis lens. I took a ton of photos with it (like the one of my son, Caleb, below). [image] As I mentioned in that article, this is one hell of a lens - easy to handle, ludicrously sharp, fast and accurate autofocus, and dust/weather resistant, to name just a few top features. Needless to say, my first impressions were all positive, and I’m excited to have more time with the lens to do a thorough review. I’ll have that framed up for you in a couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
