Nonprofit News From Elsewhere Online The board of governors for Florida’s state universities will oversee an investigation into an announced $237 million gift to Florida A&M University that recently went sour. The governors will work with a law firm the school has hired to look into the gift of stock of indeterminate value, which, as announced, would have been the largest donation in the history of the country’s historically Black colleges and universities. The donation fell apart upon closer scrutiny of the donor’s wealth and background. ([Tallahassee Democrat]( Many nonprofits that help New York City’s most vulnerable residents face chronic staffing shortages that limit their ability to provide basic services, even as homeless and migrant populations increase. The biggest gaps are among front-line workers, where the pay is low and the turnover is high, according to a new report, which recommends contracting reforms and creation of a board to review wages for human-services jobs. The city has been raising pay for those contracted workers and offering other benefits.
