Give the compassionate person in your life the gift that helps homeless pets! The gift that saves pets [View this email in your browser]( Dear Friend, This holiday season, why not give the gift of hope to some of the thousands of pets who will be spending these weeks waiting for families of their own? [A donation to the Petfinder Foundation is that Gift of Hope.]( Your gift will help pets like Pearl (above, on her freedom ride out of the shelter), whose hope was restored thanks to hardworking volunteers — and a Petfinder Foundation grant. Hiding behind a trash can at the shelter A Lab mix, Pearl was surrendered to a Houston shelter at age 11. She was petrified, cowering in any corner she could find. At the shelter vet, she was so scared, she went to the bathroom on herself. Local volunteers networked her tirelessly, and Pearl was pulled in the nick of time by Dizzy Dog Rescue in North Carolina. Too scared to move at her foster home Kerstin, one of the group's dedicated fosters, brought her home — but Pearl was still terrified. She wouldn't move if she thought someone was watching her. Kerstin had to carry her outside to potty. But after a month, a breakthrough happened, and Pearl started to play with Kerstin's other foster dogs! Finally trusting her foster mom! After many months and much love and patience from her foster mom and canine housemates, Pearl started to let her guard down and reveal her silly, affectionate personality. But the right adopter for a shy senior didn't come through — until Dizzy Dog got our Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant. Director Stacey Carlson says, "Once we received the grant and could adjust Pearl’s donation, the perfect home found her!" Chin scritches and kisses in her new home Today, Pearl is safe and loved in her forever home and will never be frightened again. Her adopter reports: "Pearl is a dream to have in our family. She is so easygoing and just happy to nap in the same room as me. "Every morning she does a happy prance when I’m getting her food ready and then afterward she makes sure my Chihuahua’s plate is licked clean too. I’m crazy about this old gal!" This holiday, [please gift the Gift of Hope to pets like Pearl](.
