November is Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month. Meet some seniors you've helped find forever homes. A shelter is no place for a senior pet. [View this email in your browser]( Dear Friend, November is Adopt-a-Senior Pet Month, and we've long worked to get homeless senior pets into loving homes. Here are just a few of the seniors helped recently by your donations. Dukes and Juggernaut with their adopters Dukes and Juggernaut, 7-year-old, 87-lb. bonded Saint Bernards, were found as strays in Grand Junction, Colorado. They were gentle "teddy bears," but placing two XL seniors, together, is a tall order. Our grant to Grand Rivers Humane Society covered their adoption fees, crates, and food, and the dogs are now settling into their forever home! Dukes has even claimed a corner of the couch (top photo). Smoky A three-legged, 16-year-old cat with arthritis, Smoky was left behind when his owner moved out. He was rescued from the abandoned house by Stray Cat Blues in Pennsylvania. Our grant covered Smoky's arthritis medication, and after the rescue announced it, Smoky was adopted within three weeks! He's now loving life in his forever home with his new feline siblings. Murray with his new parents Birds are famously long-lived, but at 18, Murray was an elder statesman. The nanday conure bonded closely with humans, but kept getting passed over by adopters. Our grant to The Gabriel Foundation in Colorado covered Murray's adoption fee and the cost of a large cage. He soon caught the eye of his new parents, who are making sure his golden years are filled with enrichment and attention. Lexi won over her dad! Wanting to help the crowded Wags Pet Adoption shelter in California, a local family offered to foster a dog – although the dad stipulated: "as long as it isn't a Chihuahua." But as soon as he met elderly Lexi, it was love. "He takes her for two walks per day and she lies on him watching TV," the family reports. Our grant helped them make her adoption official. The Petfinder Foundation helps these and thousands of other senior pets find loving, forever homes. [Your gift will help more pets like them.]( From all of us at the Petfinder Foundation, thank you for all that you do to help homeless pets.
