Andrew Schulz, the comedian and podcaster behind the popular "Flagrant" podcast, recently scored a huge guest-none other than former President Donald Trump. And if you're familiar with Trump, you know that anytime he speaks, it's bound to be pure entertainment. During a chat on the "Brilliant Idiots" podcast with Charlamagne Tha God, Schulz described what it was like interviewing Trump, and let's just say he wasn't disappointed. Schulz called Trump "just pure entertainment" and admitted that you never know what's going to come out of the former president's mouth. He pointed out how Trump somehow manages to make each new comment funnier than the last. And when Trump catches someone laughing? He'll milk it for all it's worth. Case in point: during the interview, Trump started riffing about the doctors who saved lives after the tragic shooting in Butler, PA, calling them "country doctors" and doubling down on the phrase for comedic effect. "You're just sitting there, you do not know the next word that is going to come out of his mouth," Schulz said. "And you try to guess and every time you try to guess, you are wrong." "And every time he starts, it's funnier than the last time," he added. "And he can key in. When he sees you laughing at some sh*t that he [doesn't] even know is funny yet, he clocks it. And then he will keep, like he started calling doctors that saved the lives of the [Butler, PA] shooting victims, these country doctors...and he kept hitting country doctors." The way Schulz tells it, Trump has a way of turning things around in his favor, even when people try to use his own words against him. One of the best lines from the podcast, according to Schulz, was when Trump said, "Yo, they lie about me all the time, it's hard for me to do that about them. I'm basically truthful." It's classic Trump-self-aware, disarming, and hilarious. While the media might twist that line into some sort of gotcha moment, Schulz found it funny because it highlights Trump's ability to laugh at the absurdity of his own situation. Charlamagne Tha God even chimed in, saying that Trump's appearance on "Flagrant" was so strong it might just help him win the election. He recalled a conversation with a young Black man who told him, "Flagrant's going to get Trump elected." Schulz agreed, saying, "The interview was fire, bro. He was just having fun, and that's infectious." And that's the thing about Trump-love him or hate him, he knows how to have fun, and that resonates with people. One of the more fascinating takeaways from the interview was how both sides of the political aisle used the same clip from Trump's appearance to push their agendas. [Trump]( hit back at a New York Times headline that claimed his speeches were "angry and rambling" by explaining that what he does is called "The Weave." He described it as a technique that requires a great deal of memory. Trump's team, naturally, jumped on the clip, calling it "fire," while Kamala Harris's camp tried to spin it as ridiculous. As Schulz pointed out, the same piece of content was used to both trash and praise Trump. That's the Trump effect-no matter what he says, people will either love it or hate it, but either way, they're talking about it. And in today's political landscape, being the center of attention is half the battle. So, while the media tries to frame Trump's speeches as "rambling," his supporters see a master at work, weaving his way through the chaos.
