Well, folks, it looks like Don Lemon has hit a new low, and that's saying something. This time, he's decided it's perfectly fine to mock Melania Trump for daring to speak out about the attempted assassination of her husband, former President Donald Trump. Yes, you heard that right. Instead of showing even a shred of empathy, Lemon thought it would be cute to roll his eyes, shake his head, and scratch his own in disbelief as if the very idea that Melania might be distressed over her husband almost being killed is something to scoff at. In her video, Melania described the assassination attempt on July 13 as "horrible" and "distressing" (because, shocker, it was), and she hinted that there's more to the story that hasn't been uncovered. She even raised a valid question: why wasn't the shooter arrested before Trump took the stage? Seems like a reasonable concern, right? But no, Lemon couldn't resist turning her emotional message into a punchline, complete with exaggerated reactions that looked like they belonged in a bad TikTok skit, not from someone who used to host a prime-time news show. And here's the kicker: Lemon's "performance" wasn't just cringey-it was downright disrespectful. Melania wasn't just talking about some political spat or policy debate. She was talking about an attempt on her husband's life, during which an innocent supporter was actually killed. But instead of addressing that with the seriousness it deserves, Lemon, ever the attention-seeker, turned it into a mocking spectacle. Real classy, Don. Naturally, conservatives were not having it, and the backlash was swift. Paul Szypula nailed it when he asked if Lemon could ever have "empathy for a human without considering politics." And radio host Stacy Washington pointed out the obvious: "We should all be distressed when someone tries to kill a former president." Is that really such a radical notion? Apparently, it is in Lemon's world, where everything is fair game for a joke, no matter how tasteless. Hey [@donlemon](, so can you have empathy for a human without considering politics for once in your life? - Paul A. Szypula ???? (@Bubblebathgirl) [September 11, 2024]( And it wasn't just your everyday conservatives calling out [Lemon](. Even Sky News' Rita Panahi couldn't believe what she was seeing, sarcastically congratulating Lemon on mocking a woman for expressing distress over an assassination attempt. Honestly, what's next? Is he going to mock victims for sharing their trauma because it doesn't align with his politics? Perhaps the most scathing takedown came from Fox News contributor Joe Concha, who called Lemon "the most pathetic, attention-starved human being on the planet." And you know what? He might be right. Lemon's desperate need to stay relevant since his CNN exit is showing and it's not pretty. Sure, Lemon deleted the video from TikTok, but not before it made its rounds on the internet, drawing well-deserved criticism. The fact that he thought mocking Melania Trump over something as serious as an assassination attempt was even remotely appropriate says more about his character than any clever tweet or Instagram post ever could. If there was ever any doubt that Lemon is simply out of touch, this sealed the deal.
