ADVERTISEMENT [Boots Hearing care](   [Collect 150 Boots Advantage Card Points]( Peter Schmeichel, a personal journey “I believe I was born with some kind of hearing loss, which got progressively worse over time to the point where I would really struggle in social situations where there was a lot of background noise,” says Schmeichel. “My father had hearing loss too, but he put off getting hearing aids until he was in his 80s, which was too late. I just wish we’d taken him for a hearing test sooner." Start your journey today towards better hearing. Boots Hearingcare offers a quick and convenient FREE hearing check at a time that suits you. If it seems you might have hearing loss, you will be invited back for a longer FREE 75 minute hearing assessment. [BOOK A FREE HEARING TEST]( [Collect 150 Boots Advantage Card Points]( Please note that this is not an NHS service. Boots hearing tests are provided free of charge to customers. However, follow-up services and provision of hearing aids are private services which incur a charge. If you have problems with your hearing, you may be eligible for NHS referral and free NHS hearing aids via your GP. [Boots Hearing care]( Untreated hearing loss affects us in many ways, not just our hearing – it is linked to a higher risk of social isolation, depression, and even dementia. The impact of untreated hearing loss Recent research from Boots Hearingcare highlights the profound effects untreated hearing loss can have on individuals. Key findings include:   Mental health impact: 23% of individuals with untreated hearing loss reported negative effects on their mental health. Social withdrawal: 46% of hearing aid users admitted to avoiding social interactions due to hearing difficulties. Stigma: a significant 74% believe there is a stigma attached to wearing hearing aids.   Schmeichel’s own experience mirrors these findings. Initially hesitant to get a hearing test, he recalls a pivotal moment when he struggled to hear fellow footballer Freddie Ljungberg during an event. This experience spurred him into action, leading to his partnership with Boots Hearingcare. What happens if we detect hearing loss during your initial health check? If a hearing loss is detected during your Hearing Health Check, you have been diagnosed previously or currently own hearing aids, you’ll be invited for a Full Hearing Assessment. This appointment lasts 75 minutes, and is carried out by one of our expert Audiologists. Like our Hearing Health Check, this appointment is also free, but this time we’ll go into more depth to try to understand your hearing loss. It’s helpful to bring along a partner, family member or friend who can support in the discussion about how well you’re hearing.   [BOOK A FREE HEARING TEST]( * Points indicated are the total number of points awarded.
