Read on. – Your fellow Participants [LOWNDES â Image]( Fighting For The Black Vote And Beyond LOWNDES COUNTY AND THE ROAD TO BLACK POWER (Coming to Peacock) Eighty percent Black, zero Black voters: for the people of Lowndes County, Alabama, a rural, low-income community with a vicious history of racism, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was paper without power. Through first-person accounts and searing archival footage, LOWNDES COUNTY AND THE ROAD TO BLACK POWER, tells the riveting story of the young activists who fought not just for voting rights, but for humanity and justice. Directed by multi-award-winning filmmakers Geeta Gandbhir and Sam Pollard, the documentary, which [premiered at Tribeca to celebrate Juneteenth]( has been [acquired by Peacock]( and is presented by Participant, a Multitude Films production, in association with The Atlantic.
