“SCORCHED EARTH” [Altucher Confidential] August 09, 2024 [WEBSITE]( | [UNSUBSCRIBE]( This is a direct shot across the bow of closed-source giants like OpenAI. Here’s how to play it. [Hero_Image] Zuck’s Master Plan (AI) [Chris Campbell] CHRIS CAMPBELL Dear Reader, "Mine's gotten gray,” said NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang to Mark Zuckerberg. “Yours has gone curly, what's up?" “It was always curly,” said Zuckerberg. “That’s why I kept it short.” "I'm a senior citizen,” said Huang, “but I'm agile." "Get this guy a chain!” said Zuck, standing up. “Next time I see you I'm bringing you a gold chain!" "I think Mark is pretty buff,” said Huang. “He's like, the guy is pretty jacked." In a landmark conversation at Siggraph 2024, Zuck and Huang gave us a glimpse of the upcoming reality show "Keeping Up with the Technocrats." Oh yeah… They also talked about AI. In fact, the discussion revealed key trends that could shape the tech landscape for years to come. It Gets Weirder For starters, both agreed that the future of AI isn't monolithic. Rather than a single, all-encompassing AI model, they envision a proliferation of specialized AIs. Companies are likely to develop custom models for specific functions, from chip design to customer service. Zuck took it even further: He’s insanely bullish on Meta's AI Studio, a tool that allows creators to build AI versions of themselves. As in, James Altucher can create an AI James Altucher that you can interact with. Zuckerberg explained, "We want to empower all the people who use our products to basically create agents for themselves." This tool, he went on, aims to solve the "fundamental issue" of limited time for engagement between creators and their communities. “Friend 2.0”? (Maybe [I spoke too soon yesterday]( Zuck also revealed an unexpected use case for Meta’s AI: people are using it to roleplay difficult social situations, from asking for a raise to navigating personal relationships, in a "judgment-free zone." (In other words, he’s not giving up on getting you inside the metaverse.) But here’s where things get interesting. Critical Account Message Issued For: {EMAIL} A recent announcement from Nvidia has put us on the cusp of a 5-digit gain opportunity in the next year, and in the wake of a potential market meltdown, this idea just became CRITICAL. While news outlets are ringing alarm bells on the market, they aren’t talking about this legendary move from the undisputed leader of the AI industry. All of the details of this opportunity can be found in your urgent account message. [View it now.]( [Click here to learn more]( Zuck’s Open Door (Trap) If Elon Musk’s master plan is to colonize Mars and make humanity a multi-planetary species, Zuckerberg’s master plan is to dominate and reshape cyberspace. Zuck’s creating a digital universe where Meta is the central force. To do so, he’s doing things that seem counterintuitive. For example, the release of massive open-source AI -- LLaMa 3.1. This is a direct shot across the bow of closed-source giants like OpenAI. But what’s the big deal, you ask? Imagine an AI model as a book in a library. Anyone can walk in, read it, learn from it, and even make their own copies. This means more people can use and improve the AI, which speeds up innovation and makes the technology better for everyone. In an open-source environment, everyone can see how the AI is built, how it works, and what it’s doing. This transparency builds trust because there are no hidden secrets or black boxes. People can check the AI for bugs, biases, or potential issues and fix them. Moreover, people can tweak it to fit their own needs - like creating agents of themselves. In a closed-source system, the AI is like a book that only members of a private club can read. If you’re not a member, you don’t get access. This keeps the technology in the hands of a few, limiting who can use it or improve upon it. Also, since only the club members know what’s inside the book, the rest of the world has to take their word on what it says. This can lead to concerns about hidden problems or whether the AI is being used fairly. So, by Zuck’s logic… Why pay premium prices for a closed-source model when you can have full control over an open-source alternative that’s just as capable, if not more? By flooding the market with powerful, free AI models, Meta is making it increasingly difficult for competitors to justify closed-source offerings. The message is clear: adapt or get left behind. But make no mistake—Zuckerberg isn’t doing this out of altruism. The Battle for Control By fostering a thriving ecosystem around LLaMA 3.1, Meta is trying to position itself as the de facto leader in AI standards. Sure, he’s giving away powerful tech. But he’s also - surprise! - setting the stage for future monetization. By controlling the ecosystem, Meta can define the rules and reap the rewards, all while presenting itself as the champion of open innovation. Zuck’s vision extends far beyond just releasing AI models. He envisions a world where AI agents outnumber humans, integrated into every aspect of life and business. By enabling businesses and creators to easily deploy their own AI agents, Meta is positioning itself as the backbone of this AI-driven future. But the REAL play here isn’t META… or major Big Tech platforms at all… It’s in the infrastructure. Pick, Shovels, Bits While Huang revealed that Meta is approaching a staggering 600,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs in their data centers… META isn’t the best place to play this. Meta’s massive investment in AI hardware not only shows the computational demands of advanced AI models… It also suggests continued growth opportunities for chip manufacturers and AI infrastructure providers. Consider: Each H100 GPU consumes about 700 watts of power. 600,000 H100s would require about 420 megawatts, equivalent to powering around 315,000 homes. Big opportunities in power management and cooling solutions. Consider: The massive computational demands of AI are driving innovation in high-speed connectivity solutions. As data centers scale up to accommodate hundreds of thousands of GPUs, the need for ultra-fast, low-latency connections between these processors becomes critical. Consider: The rise of AI is also accelerating the development and adoption of edge computing solutions. While centralized data centers remain crucial, there's an increasing need for AI processing capabilities closer to the point of data generation and consumption. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
