According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, âmost of the flying terrorists were shot downâ â but at least five of them seem to have hit their targets, with 18 people being rescued from the rubble of an apartment building. At least one resident was not so lucky and the search for another is ongoing. The attacks mark the second time Kyiv has been subject to Russian attacks in a week after months of relative calm. As Russiaâs battlefield challenges continue to mount, such retaliatory attacks seem increasingly likely. Authorities say Saturdayâs fire was started by inmates in a sewing workshop and had nothing to do with [ongoing anti-government protests]( that have paralyzed the nation. But videos show two projectiles â thought to be grenades â were thrown from outside the prison when the fire started, and inmates reported that guards fired tear gas throughout the night. âTehran has become a detention center,â chanted students at the cityâs main university. âEvin has become a slaughterhouse.â (Sources: [CNN](, [IranWire](, [The Guardian]() âOverwhelmingâ Disaster At Least 600 Killed in Nigeria Floods, With More on the Way Two weeks after his son drowned, Joseph Ajiye is still waiting for the floodwaters to recede so he can bury him. The way things are going heâll likely have to wait a bit longer. Nigeria is accustomed to seasonal flooding, but unusually heavy rains caused by climate change have made this year far worse than usual. And poor planning and infrastructure havenât helped. Over 200,000 homes have been destroyed and around 1.3 million people have been displaced. The flooding, which has affected 27 of Nigeriaâs 36 states, is expected to continue until the end of November. (Sources: [BBC](, [Al Jazeera]() Secret Weapon? Jill Biden Racks Up Frequent Flyer Miles Ahead of Midterms This weekend the first lady took five flights, attended 11 events and appeared with three Democrats â Stacey Abrams, Rep. Val Demings and Charlie Crist â whoâd personally requested her campaign-trail assistance. With President Joe Bidenâs approval hovering around 40%, his wifeâs a safer bet for candidates wanting to drum up financial and political support. âShe does not offend people in a way that a president can because sheâs much less polarizing and political,â said her former press secretary Michael LaRosa. âShe can go places now that the president canât.â Sheâll likely be living out of a suitcase for the next month. Apart from a two-year stint in New York to complete a masterâs in divinity, he spent the rest of his life there, campaigning for its poor, marginalized Black residents. Soon after arriving, Sherrod arranged anti-segregation protests that caught the attention of the nation â but the townâs white community pushed back. Sherrod did not give up. âHe fought until the end,â said fellow activist Frank Wilson. âHe always recognized that there were greater issues and new frontiers.â (Sources: [NYT](, [GPB]() Jeez, Therese UK Health Minister Admits to Sharing Antibiotics With Friends Just when you thought ex-finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng and Prime Minister-for-now Liz Truss had a monopoly on questionable governance, Health Secretary Thérèse Coffey has thrown her hat in the ring. In a meeting with civil servants she boasted of sharing leftover antibiotics with a sick friend. One doctor accused her of âmonumental stupidity.â Dr. Richard van Mallaerts at the British Medical Association managed to be slightly more polite: âSharing prescribed medications, particularly antibiotics, is not only potentially dangerous, but also against the law, and we would ask our health secretary to instead support us in encouraging good and safe prescribing practices.â (Source: [The Guardian]() Seeing Double Festival of Twinning in Nigeriaâs âHome of Twinsâ Over 1,000 sets of twins of all ages donned matching outfits for the 12th annual World of Twins festival. No one knows why there are so many twins there â chief Jimoh Titiloye says almost every family has at least one set â but locals are convinced itâs got something to do with amala, a regional delicacy made from yam flour. âWe cherish twins while in some parts of the world, they condemn twins,â said Taiwo Ojeniyi who attended with his twin brother.
