The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting more than physical health – due to the slowdown of the global economy, the hunger crisis is deepening in existing hotspots and creating new epicenters of hunger across the globe. Now the coronavirus has combined with the impacts of conflict, spiraling inequality and an escalating climate crisis to shake an already broken food system to its foundations, leaving millions more on the brink of starvation. Oxfam is on the ground in more than 60 countries helping communities struggling with COVID-19 directly with handwashing supplies and other aid. We're also helping those struggling with hunger by providing seeds in Afghanistan, cash transfers in Venezuela, food rations in India, and more. This pandemic is the final straw for the millions already struggling with conflict, climate change, inequality, and a broken food system. We need your help to ramp up our efforts to help in this hunger crisis and stand up for those living in poverty worldwide. With the help of the Oxfam community, we’ve identified ten extreme hunger hotspots, like Yemen, where two-thirds of the population is hungry, as well as emerging hotspots like South Africa, where one in three adults said they were going to bed hungry. We’re tailoring our response across the globe to this hunger crisis based on what each community needs most. But responding to this hunger crisis, as well as keeping up our work supporting families worldwide is only possible with the support of the Oxfam community. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
