In the heady days of the Inflation Reduction Act, solar stocks were all the rage. I remember when the Guggenheim Solar Trust ETF (Ticker: TAN) was well over $100. That is not the case anymore. TAN is making a 1 year low when SPX is making a one year high. Heck even the Invesco QQQ Trust (Ticker: QQQ) is close to 1 year highs. The issue is once the big spend for the Green New Deal went down, TAN peaked and has not recovered. [ded] I also think after a late summer rally when VP Kamala Harris jumped in the polls, TAN was hot again as the Green New Deal might be back on. Don't get me wrong, sticking a solar panel on my roof is not a bad idea to power some stuff but hard to justify the cost to replace a simple generator from Generac Inc (Ticker: GNRC) when the power goes out. I do still want some solar panels to run the water pump. Anyway, TAN is another “betting line” stock and the lower it goes, the less favorable for the VP Harris run. - AG [logo, pit profits] Want to find YOUR winning fit? [Click this link to sign up!]( [fpip] Gold Looking Very Bullish Hi Shoppers, When we look at commodities we are inclined to check what the US dollar is doing because it is the global currency for trade. Generally when the dollar is weaker this makes other currencies stronger thus demand for the commodities goes up. When the dollar is stronger it lowers global demand for commodities as they are more expensive against their currencies. This gives the dollar and gold futures an inverse relationship. When the dollar goes up gold will get weaker and vice versa. This of course is a general rule of thumb. And as we all know nothing is 100% in trading. Here is the ten year chart of the dollar vs gold (I lifted it from macrotrends.net): [FPIP] Dollar is in blue and gold is in orange. The divergence is pretty clear. Zooming into the chart going back to 2022, the dollar is blue and gold is pink: [FPIP] Beginning February of this year, gold has just taken off. I think this trend has room to run.
