[Click here to learn more and join me, Voz, and Hannah for the most fun hour you’ll have next week.]( [ag views, logo, header] Oil stocks are giving a view to the Middle East The FOMC minutes did not bring anything new to the table with some Fed govs worried about a .50% cut being too much. The market has answered by pushing rates up since the meeting. Another culprit in the inflation story has been oil as oil prices bounced after a mostly soft year. If I look at ExxonMobil Corp (Ticker: XOM) below, realized volatility is ticking in at a one year high. [ded] Note from XOM’s stock price that it is still near 1 year highs. See below as the US Oil Trust (Ticker: USO) is essentially showing the same thing. A bit of a pullback, but not anywhere near year lows. [ded] I still think there is more to come in the oil space in the short term since USO and XOM and the rest of the oil complex have not given up the volatility. - AG  [logo, pit profits] Want to find YOUR winning fit? Florida and the rest of the Southeast are getting battered. Hurricane Milton is set to make landfall in Florida early Thursday, just two weeks after Hurricane Helene tore through the state and into the Carolinas. I’ve got friends who are evacuating. We send our best wishes. Naturally, a metric truck load of politics has been played regarding the response to the devastation. Both sides are accusing the other of, what are, collective failures. The back-to-back calamities will have severe economic consequences. The damage across a dozen states from Hurricane Helene is estimated to be between $30.5 billion to $47.5 billion, with total economic losses reaching $160 billion. Milton, now a Category 5 storm, is anticipated to cause even more damage as it heads towards the highly populated Tampa Bay. The Harris camp got an economic boost with the avoidance of a port strike, but these will be tough storms to dodge. Regardless, we have to trade, and in a crisis there is always opportunity.
