Pit Stop [fstp, logo, header] August 31, 2024 [ag views, logo, header] Why is VIX still 15 near all time highs?  This is why. SPX was looking for 5560 or lower midday only to stage the miraculous turn around. It also closed within 20 points of an all time high. From a range point of view, we rallied 40 SPX points this morning, sold off to just down on the day and then rallied 70 SPX points from the bottom. That is 150 point range or around 3%. That is a 36% volatility. Mark covered this today in the Friday show on the Tradier Network. ATR, or Average True Range, is very high for SPX, around 60 points per day. [ded] VIX is running at a 15% volatility. The daily orbiting ranges are big so take what you can get on the moves. Let’s see if Tuesday sells off to complete the picture. I don't think VIX is going to get too far away from 15 any time soon with this market action. - AG  [logo, pit profits] Want to find YOUR winning fit? We had a wonderful three months to experience the sunshine, beach and crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It was fabulous … and believe it or not not too hot. Every day it rained just a bit to cool it down. We are heading to South Texas with a stopover in New Orleans which is awesome! Love the muffuletta sandwiches and Pimms Cups at the Napoleon House which is such a cool old establishment, fun to hang out in the rain. The charred oysters at Felix’s are the best I’ve had. Of course we will browse the antique shops on Royal, walk through Jackson Square, and catch some live music after dinner. There is also Avery Island where they make tabasco because it sits on a salt dome, just be careful of the gators.
