Pit Stop SMCI to delay earnings, spooks the market prior to massive NVDA earnings For a while today

Pit Stop [fstp, logo, header] August 28, 2024 The new backbone SVIX strategy is closing up for new admissions.  [Check it out here before it's gone!]( [ag views, logo, header] SMCI to delay earnings, spooks the market prior to massive NVDA earnings For a while today the SPX was flat and then dumped into the last half of the day. Part of this was SuperMicro Computer Inc (Ticker: SMCI) delaying earnings results. Traders don’t like it when a hardware AI darling is going to scare the heck out of everyone. Especially when hardware darling Nvidia Corp (Ticker: NVDA) is going to report tonight. [yt] SMCI 30 day chart getting ready for the split VIX tried hard to get to 18 but could not do it. No Zone 3 for today. This should be a great vol selling opportunity or hold on to your hats tomorrow. [yt] I am leaning short VIX, and own some SPY put spreads in Weekly Profit Cycles. I have some VIX call spreads for credits in the Trading Desk, so maybe they come back to life? I am not buying this selloff in SPX today but it is nice to have a hedge in place just in case. - AG  [logo, pit profits] Want to find YOUR winning fit? This agreement, reached during the U.S.-China Financial Working Group meeting in Shanghai, reveals the concern to stabilize the global monetary framework, particularly given the increasing volatility in global markets. I have focused on this inevitable shift because history has shown that all global monetary cycles come to an end and when they do Gold always plays a pivotal role in transition to a new world order. Today, we will take a look at communications and historical context that reassures us that owning Gold is one of the most important portfolio additions investors must consider. [Major US/China Agreement: The Winner is GOLD]( - Bill --------------------------------------------------------------- Never miss an edition of Bill Griffo's Power Income Newsletter ever again. [Click this link to sign up!](  [fpip] $PTLO Breaks Out Hi Shoppers, [On Sunday I told you to watch Portillo's (Ticker: PTLO) as it was trading in a box range which was $11.86 to $12.46.]( $PTLO has broken out of that range. Check it out: [FPIP] It is breaking out to the upside. I called that $PTLO would trade to $14.37 once it broke out of the box range. Before I reveal my trade plan in $PTLO, have you noticed how the premium (volatility) overall has been pumped up in just the last two days? It is due to the Nvidia (Ticker: NVDA) earnings report coming out today after the close. It’s not a ton but you can see the implied volatility up just a tad overall in stocks as we await the big announcement. $NVDA has had a hold on the market and continues to do so making this report a catalyst to send the market moving in a big way up or down. Speaking of volatility you can profit from these moves by joining the Trading Desk here at Option Pit. You will learn more about market volatility than any other retail trader in the market because you will be educated by the guys that were there at the birth of the $VIX.
