Pit Stop [fstp, logo, header] August 12, 2024 [ag views, logo, header] Last Week Never Happened If you look at where VIX is now and a week ago Friday, Monday came and went. Essentially the short volatility traders did not see a market ending event and sold more options last week. That is really the only explanation for it. The 5 day chart for VIX is below: [ded] The 10 day chart for VIX is below: [ded] As nuts as it sounds, VIX is actually lower than where traders thought it should be 10 days ago. Yes there are more Iran/Israel tensions but those have been around since October. The big difference is the weekly volatility in SPX is still bid with a 100 straddle value to Friday so that covers any geopolitical risk premium.. If the PPI number is even just ok, I don’t see how we don’t take 5400 by the end of the week. - AG  [logo, pit profits] Want to find YOUR winning fit?
