Friend -- Young Americans deserve leaders who understand the challenges they face -- leaders who worry about making rent or paying for child care, who know that the climate crisis is real and that they’re going to see the effects of climate change for decades to come, or who have seen the ways that gun violence has shaped an entire generation of students. That’s where David Hogg and Kevin Lata come in. Through Leaders We Deserve, they’re aiming to bring more Millennial and Gen-Z representation to elected office. You can learn more about Leaders We Deserve below -- then, sign up on their website to hear more about what they’ve been up to lately. Onward! Hillary --------------------------------------------------------------- Onward Together works to build a brighter future for generations to come by supporting groups that encourage people to organize in their communities or run for office. Because you’re an important part of Onward Together, we wanted you to get a chance to know these groups a little bit better. The organization: Leaders We Deserve The organizers: David Hogg, gun violence prevention activist and co-founder of March for Our Lives, and Kevin Lata, former campaign manager for Maxwell Frost, the first Gen-Z member of Congress The mission: To identify and elect more trailblazing young candidates--youthful, audacious, and charismatic leaders who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo The story: In 2020, Millennial and Gen-Z individuals only held 21% of State Legislative seats despite representing 45% of the electorate. After Maxwell Frost became the first Gen-Z member of Congress, Hogg and Lata saw a need for investment in young leaders -- and Leaders We Deserve was born. The next step: In 2023, Leaders We Deserve endorsed one of their first candidates Nadarius Clark (D-VA-84). Nadarius won his competitive Virginia House race and now at 28 years old serves as the youngest House Delegate in Virginia.
