How well are City agencies doing? Dear New Yorkers, Like I always say, we can’t manage what we can’t measure. And as you may already know, here at the Comptroller’s office we love a good dashboard. That’s why I’m excited to announce [a new online transparency tool]( that shows how well City agencies are delivering services to New Yorkers. Using data from the Mayor’s Management Report and other City agency open data sources, this [interactive dashboard]( shows whether agencies’ performance is improving, declining, or staying steady. Take your time toggling around and viewing the [data by agency](. I love how it provides a snapshot of how well City agencies are – or are not – meeting their goals. Here are just some of the key data points revealed on the agency management dashboard: - Vehicle crashes killed more people on city streets last month, from 17 people in July to 27 people in August.  - The Department of Design and Construction improved its on-time design and construction projects considerably in 2024, meeting its goals of 89% and 91% respectively, the highest in five years.  - Complaints against police officers for force, abuse of authority, or other misconduct are up by 20%, from 4,703 in FY 2023 to 5,644 in FY 2024. Police responded to crimes in progress a minute and a half slower in the most recent quarter than this time last year. {NAME}, it’s the responsibility of the Comptroller to hold City agencies accountable. This new tool helps us do just that. From transparency tools like this dashboard, to my [4-point plan root out corruption]( in City procurement, I’m doing everything I can to achieve a more honest, better-run City government. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
