Sudan's coup surprises the U.S.; Springsteen and Obama's book release; Michael Jordan's shoes break a record

The U.S. has [invested hundreds of millions of dollars]( towards the country's transition to democracy. Here’s what you need to know about the trove of insider Facebook documents. NPR reviewed some of the Facebook Papers and found that employees warned the company that [its inability to effectively moderate content in the U.S.]( and other countries increased danger. Congressional Gold Medals have been awarded to the 13 service personnel killed in the bomb attack in Kabul this summer. The August attack was [one of the deadliest days for American forces]( in the past decade of the 20-year war in Afghanistan. Amazon warehouse workers in New York are seeking to form a union. Organizers say they’ve collected 2,000 signatures in an effort to create one. But the efforts are unaffiliated with an established union: It’s [a self-funded, grassroots worker group]( called Amazon Labor Union. Dave Chapelle says he's willing to meet with LGBTQ Netflix employees critical of his newest special, but [remains largely unapologetic]( saying he won't be "bending to anyone's demands." The controversy over the jokes critics deemed transphobic in The Closer has been brewing for weeks. Teen vaping of marijuana has doubled since 2013. Researchers say it's because [teens might think it's safer than smoking]( but that's not the case. ➡️ Regular use of high THC products could increase the risk of dependence and other substance use. ➡️ Vitamin E acetate in marijuana vapes can interfere with normal lung functioning. ➡️ Marijuana vaping can also disturb sleep or cause dry coughing during exercise. Despite decreased emissions and a slower world economy due to COVID-19, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere [still reached a record high in 2020](.
