President Trump is in India for a two-day visit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and more than 100,000 cheering citizens in Ahmedabad welcomed the president, who has carefully [downplayed the prospect of a major trade deal]( anytime soon.
The federal judge overseeing the trial of Roger Stone has refused Stone’s request to remove her from his case. In a scathing order, Judge Amy Berman Jackson said [she would not disqualify herself]( two days after the longtime Trump ally's defense team argued that Jackson was biased against him.
The 2020 Democratic nomination is now Sen. Bernie Sanders' to lose after he decisively won the Nevada caucuses. Sanders will spend this week campaigning ahead of [Saturday’s presidential primary in South Carolina]( where Joe Biden leads in the polls.
As the Trump administration moves towards a peace deal in Afghanistan, a United Nations report says [more than 10,000 Afghan civilians]( were killed or injured in armed conflict in 2019. That puts total casualties in the past decade over 100,000.
South Korea, Iran and Italy are scrambling to contain the spread of coronavirus. [Health officials are on high alert]( over the global spread of the illness that has infected nearly 77,000 people in China, with more than 2,400 deaths tied to the virus.

Thousands of people with marijuana-related convictions in California are getting their records cleared, and most of them don’t even realize it. [A pilot program has just wrapped up]( that uses a computer algorithm to instantly target some 85,000 records that are eligible to be expunged.
