When the first domino falls, the chain reaction begins. ​ When Google pushes out an algorithm update, they are pushing a domino and sometimes the chain reaction is not at all what they expected. When the Helpful Content Update got pushed out, I don't think the "chain reaction" was what Google expected. But did Google actually listen to small publishers after a year of complaining? Over 1,300 bloggers filled out an official Google feedback form, and there's evidence to show that these bloggers (and others) did indeed cause Google to set up another chain of dominos and try a different approach.
