Did you know that the first recognized "blog" was started 30 years ago in 1994? SO MUCH has changed over the past 30 years of blogging, but I thought it would be interesting to walk through the history of blogging and how its evolved. Watch my brand new YouTube video: [30 Year Blogging Evolution in 15 Minutes](=) Not only do I share the overall history of blogging, but I also dive into my own history...sharing my original blog I started in 2006! I also share a blog I started in 2010 that you may not be aware of. And finally, I even share how much my current blog is making from display ad revenue alone (it's pretty significant). --------------------------------------------------------------- My Largest Traffic Source...BY FAR I get most of my traffic from Google organic SEO, and its not even close. So, even though I like to try fun side projects (like getting traffic from Facebook shared below)...my core method of getting traffic to my site is Google. I do think that the dedicated person can still tap into the best traffic source I've ever found...Google. And frankly, I've never been much of a link builder. I think doing some hustle when you first get started to get some links and mentions is smart business...but long term, that's never been a big part of my strategy. What HAS been a big part of my strategy is internal link building. These are the links you can control. And the fastest and easiest way to build effective internal links is with Link Whisper. I created this tool to save time, get better reporting, and to build more effective internal links across my site. If you head over to [LinkWhisper.com you'll find a special deal right now](). --------------------------------------------------------------- Day 8 of 30: Try and Make $1,000 from a brand new Facebook page in 30 days + Lose 10 lbs. Current FB page followers: 2,413 Current weight: 152.0 lbs (Lost 5 lbs) Current Earnings (estimate): $5.81 Current Expenses: $228.99 Well, I feel like I’m starting to hit the “dip”. The first week of a project is super exciting, it's new! Now I’m at the point where I’ve been putting in time each day and the progress feels slow. Sure, I now have over 2,400 followers…but $5.81 in earnings just feels so…small. However, I’m gonna push through…I mean I JUST posted my first link to my own website yesterday. In fact 2 posts to my website yesterday. The results? Mostly crickets. The posts didn’t get much reach and only a few reactions. But I suppose this is to be expected. Facebook is known to limit the reach of posts with links and my page is still so small, I’m not surprised. However, $1,000 in earnings is going to be a tall order. I’m gonna have to get a post to go viral of sorts in order to make that kinda money in the next few weeks. As a reminder, I’m willing to spend up to $1,000 this month to gain followers. But I want to also have revenue of $1,000. If I could break even in month 1, that would be incredible. And then I would plan to spend less…and hopefully be profitable after month 1. I created a new ad yesterday and its first 24 hours have not been good. It’s my most expensive likes campaign at $0.35 a like. On average for the page, I’m gaining followers at a cost of about 9.5 cents a like. I really want to get that to 5 cents a like, but I’m struggling to find a winning ad. Where I’m at cost wise is “okay”, but not great. I spent 1 hr. 57 mins on this project yesterday and got a ton done. I scheduled about 2.5 days worth of posts, created a couple of blog posts, and created a new ad. Oh, and I did great on my diet yesterday. Stuck to the plan for diet…then played about 2 hours of pickleball in the evening. I’m down 5 lbs! However, I know weight looks a lot lower the day after a long evening workout. So, we will see where I end up in a couple days. But I feel like the 10lb weight loss goal is totally achievable!
