TECH & COMMUNITY Good morning {NAME}, Five years ago, I purchased my beloved Samsung Galaxy S8. It boasted a slim design in a shade of black pearl, and hyper performance! Until today, this smartphone is one of my favorite devices in the world. But if you are aware of Moore's law, you will know that the performance of our devices double every two years, and this is set as a pattern in the modern mobile market to move to more advanced technologies. In other words, it is the window of opportunity to change smartphones. Based on that, I passed my Galaxy S8 to my brother in 2019, but not without a disclaimer: The device will become obsolete soon. So in 2021, Samsung ended software support for the S8 series. And guess what? Even knowing about the security issues related to the lack of OS support, my brother kept the device until last year, when he lost it. Hold on! Why am I talking about my Galaxy S8? Well, I'm doing it because my colleague Benjamin Lucks made me think if I would keep my S8 until today if Samsung still offered software support. Would you? In this week's highlight article, we approach the other side of Samsung's new update policies and open questions on how relevant these changes really are. As usual, you will find our highlights of the week by scrolling down further.
