Plus, GTA lives up to the hype [View this email in your browser]( The top Christmas ads of the season may surprise you We’ve given you the top fall flavors and Thanksgiving recipes, so it’s finally time to sit down and judge this year’s Christmas ads, or at least rank them by engagement. In the UK, Christmas time is like the Super Bowl of advertising, but we looked at a couple of US-based brands for good measure, and one small business that eclipsed many big name brands with its Christmas commercial. We started by looking at the level of public interest in articles written about each Christmas ad, and even though John Lewis is a staple of the UK holiday season, it was Chevrolet that won the most attention this year, based on our picks. The [auto brand released a commercial]( centers around an older woman with Alzherimer’s, and has captured interest for being the first “anti-woke” ad of the season, earning over 107k engagements. [John Lewis’ ad]( always encourages a slew of opinions, and this year there were divided discussions about whether or not it was scary or uplifting. In total, articles about it have earned over 30k engagements. But what’s most surprising, and arguably the most notable, is a Northern Irish pub called Charlie’s Bar that has won over the public with its [heartwarming commercial.]( The ad tells a story about kindness during a time of year that often breeds loneliness, and quickly went viral when it was posted to Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Coverage of the pub’s ad has received nearly 56k engagements, beating out huge brands such as Amazon, Aldi, and John Lewis for the most public interest. GTA lives up to the hype A few weeks ago, we highlighted the hype surrounding Rockstar Games pre-announcing the trailer for GTA 6. Well, the trailer is now out and the video did not disappoint. The YouTube video of the trailer broke records for 24-hour viewcount, with [Mr. Beast tweeting]( that it had broken his previously held record with 70 million views in the first day. It currently stands over 100 million on the video platform alone, with huge engagement on other platforms too. There are more than 15 million engagements on Instagram about GTA, with [Rockstar Games’ own post]( having almost 4 million engagements on its own. And it wasn’t just on social media, it also generated earned media attention. The trailer has been reported on more than 12k times, with hundreds of thousands of engagements, building anticipation for the 2025 release.
