Also, a big unanswered question for the Patriots [View email with images]( [Providence Journal] Tuesday September 8, 2020 [Subscribe Now]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [Providence Journal]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Good afternoon and welcome to This Just In. I'm Mike McDermott, managing editor of The Providence Journal. Summer may be just about over, but it's hard to beat the weather on this glorious September day. Today is Rhode Island's statewide primary. Normally we'd be getting set to report winners in races across the state, [but we're not expecting to do that tonight]( due to the large number of mail ballots that will have to be counted in the days ahead. We will, however, be tracking the results from across the state as they are updated by the Board of Elections. [Check back here]( to see who is ahead, after the polls close at 8. My boss, Alan Rosenberg, went to the polls early [and reported back]( on the precautions that were taken. In case you missed it over the weekend, [here are the General Assembly primaries that we're keeping an eye on tonight](. In its first data update since Friday, the Rhode Island Department of Health [reported four coronavirus-related deaths and 349 additional cases]( (nearly half of which were positive tests from earlier than Friday). Hospitalizations continued to trend downward. Rhode Island still has not managed to get itself off Massachusetts' coronavirus quarantine list, but four states that did recently get off the list [seem to also fall short of the Bay State's criteria](. [Subscribe to The Providence Journal]( One of the world's foremost experts on pandemics now calls Providence home. Our healthcare reporter, Wayne Miller, spoke to new Brown University School of Public Health dean Dr. Ashish Jha [for his view of the future]( both in the short term and in the long term. What Jha has to say about this fall and winter may make you feel a little better, but what he has to say about years from now will give you pause. A London company with a factory in Lincoln is producing disposable masks [that are completely recyclable](. The eighth suspect in the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl in Providence [has turned himself in to police](. The New England Patriots start play on Sunday and [we still don't know who will be kicking field goals](. The Red Sox [have shut down Andrew Benintendi]( for the rest of the season. Have a great night. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
