[Shop ALL Fonts Here]( Resolve Sans [Resolve Sans]( #6 Resolve Sans by Fenotype One font family to cover it all! Resolve Sans is an extensive super family of 124 fonts: from compressed to extended, thin to black. Resolve Sans perfectly balances a neutral appeal with a distinct level of sophistication. Effortless to adapt to any contexts of use, Resolve Sans is both a workhorse and a display font with impact and flair. As expected, all Resolve Sans fonts come with clever Open Type features such as built-in small capitals and multiple numeral styles. 124 fonts for $449 $157.15 [Let's hear from the Designers:]( Q1) Before we get to the development of this typeface, letâs talk about the inspiration for it. Where did the idea come from? Did you set out to address a specific use case? Was this design youâd had in mind for a while? We always create our typefaces quite conceptually. Resolve is a study in creating a true type system â one font family to cover all required tasks. Design-wise, a lot of times a certain universal appeal is required from typeface. In Resolve, we aimed to *resolve* the dilemma of typeface being neutral, yet having a standout appeal. While many typeface projects aim for a more ephemeral quality, in Resolve we set out for designing a lasting, future classic of a font family. Q2) Walk us through the process of designing this typeface. Did it come along more easily that others or were there unique challenges? As usual, Teo Tuominen jumped right into the task. The key letterforms â such as lowercase a & g â must find their character early on, as this is often what gives the font its uniqueness. We usually start with the sort of book weight regular width character set, but rather quickly move on to the extremes â the most compressed or extended widths and the blackest and lightest weights. While the concept starts to be more or less fixed, we decide on the features to be included. As graphic designers and typographers, some of us are quite geeky; therefore, a decent set of features is preferred. Our fonts often come with multiple numeral styles and small capital letters â a lot of times accompanied by several alternate characters. We test the fonts thoroughly before releasing them to fine tune the spacing and kerning, and to look out for any possible mistakes or errors. Finally, when it's time for the release, we try to capture the essence of the typeface in the name, posters and description. This is a surprisingly time consuming but very important task. Q3) Looking ahead, are there new projects youâre excited about? Anything you havenât tried yet but are eager to explore? I think it's a common sin, but there are so many projects being held in our drawers! We're looking forward to releasing plenty of new stuff at the beginning of the year â stay tuned! 124 fonts for $449 $157.15 [Shop Here]( Lemon Milk Pro⢠[Lemon Milk]( #7 Lemon Milk Pro by Marsnev Wait no more. Meet Lemon Milk Pro, your new go-to typeface. After a long journey, the widely known Lemon Milk has now became pro. It finally has lowercases, covering extended Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek. Moreover, developed from the original version in 2014, it's now future proof: more OpenType features & variable fonts. 20 fonts for $149 $59.60 [Let's hear from the Designer:]( Q1) Before we get to the development of this typeface, letâs talk about the inspiration for it. Where did the idea come from? Did you set out to address a specific use case? Was this design youâd had in mind for a while? Lemon Milk Pro⢠is the latest development of Lemon Milk, a geometric display type family first created in 2014 when I was a college student. The typeface was originally created as a visual identity of a zine with the same name, Lemon/Milk, published by students of English Studies, Universitas Indonesia. The initial idea was to create a bold display typeface with a strong characteristic, which in this case is the very sharp edges. Combined with clean curves and some unique characters, it has succeeded to catch everyoneâs eyes. Q2) Walk us through the process of designing this typeface. Did it come along more easily than others or were there unique challenges? I am emotionally attached to Lemon Milk since this work portrays how I developed as a type designer. As I progress, Lemon Milk experiences its development. Thus, I honestly have not put its development to end. I have always pushed my limit on Lemon Milk Proâ¢. The typeface has now evolved from a single font family covering basic Latin to a workhorse 18-style font family covering Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek, and being equipped with variable fonts. It has been a lengthy journey, but the effort has paid off. Q3) Looking ahead, are there new projects youâre excited about? Anything you havenât tried yet but are eager to explore? Recently, I became perfectly confident with my works on variable fonts. Looking for the opportunities, I am keen to explore them more. I see the future of the type scene in the variable fonts. Mary Catherine Pflug reports on 2018 FontSurvey that most respondents agree that sometimes they wish they could slightly modify a font. With variable font format, itâs really possible! I am currently working on a condensed type family packed within one variable font with four axes. It might have been released when this interview is publicized. 20 fonts for $149 $59.60 [Shop Here]( Rotunda [Rotunda]( #8 Rotunda by TipoType Rotunda blends the best of three worlds: geometric, humanist and grotesque. But, far from being a tasteless hybrid, it has a strong personality and British undertones that turn it into a stylish and classic font face. Thanks to its ample character sets and many variables, it stands as a versatile, all-terrain font. Strong and elegant, modern and classic, firm and humanistic. It truly is a 21st Century classic. It includes a very thorough coverage for a wide variety of Latin alphabet-based language families. 18 fonts for $249 $99.60 [Let's Hear from the Designers:]( Q1) Before we get to the development of this typeface, letâs talk about the inspiration for it. Where did the idea come from? Did you set out to address a specific use case? Was this design youâd had in mind for a while? We had the idea of Rotunda hovering in our minds for a while. We wanted to make a versatile typeface that would take the best of the geometric, humanistic and grotesque traditions. However, rather than being perceived as a fragmented hybrid, the idea was that it would remain natural and relaxed. We achieved a typeface with a classic look, but with modern features typical of our time. Q2) Walk us through the process of designing this typeface. Did it come along more easily than others or were there unique challenges? The design was developed as a team, so the process was very enriching. Just as its character comes from three different typographic backgrounds, its development brought together the best of each of us: idea, refinement and production. At all times we felt that the challenge was to be able to combine those traditions so that they were clearly present, but without inhibiting the others. It was almost like preparing a dish with the right balance of condiments. Q3) Looking ahead, are there new projects youâre excited about? Anything you havenât tried yet but are eager to explore? We are currently exploring variable and serif fonts in which the progression between the weights is not a linear broadening of the weights, but rather variations in style that enhance the visual richness and narrative of the typeface. Throughout this progression, we maintain the spirit and the skeleton form of the font. 18 fonts for $249 $99.60 [Shop Here]( Quincy CF [Quincy CF]( #9 Quincy CF by Connary Fagen Quincy's warm letterforms and medium contrast give any text a smooth, calming motion. Small variations and human touches add charm, with Quincy's boldest weights especially eloquent as large and medium display type. It pairs well with clean, text-friendly sans-serifs, such as Greycliff CF and Work Sans, or for even more contrast, try monospaced typefaces like Ellograph CF and Cartograph CF. 16 fonts for $100 $40 [Let's hear from the Designer:]( Q1) Before we get to the development of this typeface, letâs talk about the inspiration for it. Where did the idea come from? Did you set out to address a specific use case? Was this design youâd had in mind for a while? Quincy CF was one of the first serif typefaces I designed, and it came from a desire to evoke a lush, warm, sunset-drenched mood through type. It is well-suited to uses like book covers, headlines, and posters. Q2) Walk us through the process of designing this typeface. Did it come along more easily than others or were there unique challenges? Quincy went through many phases of design, especially as I worked to ensure it would play nice on low-resolution displays. I remember buying an eBook reader so I could transfer in-development versions of the font back and forth, and see how it behaved on an e-Ink screen. Q3) Looking ahead, are there new projects youâre excited about? Anything you havenât tried yet but are eager to explore? Iâve been itching to design a new serif typeface lately. Something along the lines of my typeface Artifex CF, but perhaps further exploring the potential visual influence of handwriting and nature. 16 fonts for $100 $40 [Shop Here]( Moneta [Moneta]( #10 Moneta by Santi Rey Moneta is an elegant transitional serif with high contrast. Its morphology is based on the study of traditional broad-edge pen script. It comes in 4 different weights (Light, Regular, Bold and Black) and has variable features. 4 fonts for $120 $60 [Let's hear from the Designer:]( Q1) Before we get to the development of this typeface, letâs talk about the inspiration for it. Where did the idea come from? Did you set out to address a specific use case? Was this design youâd had in mind for a while? Iâve always been interested in calligraphy - particularly, in the modulated strokes created by traditional broad-edge pens. So the inspiration began by translating those shapes into vectors. However, I wanted to give it a modern look, so I tried a geometric shape for the serifs, which are basically triangles. I think that contrast between the humanist strokes and the geometric serifs is one of the things that makes Moneta a beautiful typeface. Q2) Walk us through the process of designing this typeface. Did it come along more easily than others or were there unique challenges? This was my first fully completed typeface and the one I used to teach myself the process. So, the whole process was a great challenge, but a very fun and rewarding one. Q3) Looking ahead, are there new projects youâre excited about? Anything you havenât tried yet but are eager to explore? Right now, Iâm in the process of finishing my new typeface and canât wait to see it out there. After that, I have a lot of things I want to do. I want to go back to the broad-edge pen script style and create something more traditional, inspired by the 16th century typefaces. I also want to explore the possibilities of variable fonts. Basically, I just want to keep designing and learning. 4 fonts for $120 $60 [Shop Here]( Alkes [Alkes]( #11 Alkes by Fontfabric Featuring a generous x-height, wide letter spacing, large open counters and angled stress contrast, Alkes is highly effective for editorials and publishing, where long texts and legibility are the key forces. Its attractive details, calligraphic structure and asymmetrical serifs shine through in the larger sizes and make Alkes suitable for headlines. 14 fonts for $169 $59.15 [Let's hear from the Designer:]( Q1) Before we get to the development of this typeface, letâs talk about the inspiration for it. Where did the idea come from? Did you set out to address a specific use case? Was this design youâd had in mind for a while? Alkes began taking shape during the MATD course at the University of Reading, UK. The main idea was to see the project as a learning experience and solve challenges as they arose. Alkes was designed as a flexible workhorse, tailored for the complex typographic needs of editorial designers, graphic designers and publishers who desired a responsive font for their diverse needs, both in print and on-screen. With these specific applications in mind, Alkesâ weights and styles were designed to be broad and widely functional, with a warm and friendly appearance. Q2) Walk us through the process of designing this typeface. Did it come along more easily that others or were there unique challenges? The biggest challenge was continuously assessing Alkes against the constant stream of knowledge I was acquiring during the MATD course. The heavier Greek weights presented the most challenges, considering the script has its own weight axis and highly calligraphic forms. It required time, skill, and a keen eye to balance the proportions and weight distribution correctly. Working with Fontfabric was my first type design collaboration and upon reflection, it turned out great! Their expertise and feedback were invaluable, especially on the Cyrillic. The dedication of all involved elevated Alkes to a higher level. Q3) Looking ahead, are there new projects youâre excited about? Anything you havenât tried yet but are eager to explore? I have recently completed a font family called VanSans. As the name suggests, itâs a sans-serif, and I cannot wait to see it in use and how designers will utilize it for their projects. Iâm also currently working on an organic sans-serifâthis project brings me the most excitement at the moment. Being an emerging typeface designer, thereâs still plenty of ideas Iâd love to explore. When not working on personal projects I assist other designers by developing their ideas. Iâm looking forward to seeing what collaborations occur during 2021 and what outcomes will they bring! 14 fonts for $169 $59.15 [Shop Here]( Best of 2020 Sale ENDS January 19th at 11:59 p.m. EST, [shop ALL now]( and don't miss out!
