--------------------------------------------------------------- The Most Impactful Magic Set : Spect

[MTGGoldfish][Magic Newsletter] [width="1"] --------------------------------------------------------------- The Most Impactful Magic Set (That Technically Doesn't Exist): Spectral Chaos --------------------------------------------------------------- The story of the forgotten Spectral Chaos set designed alongside Alpha in the early '90s that has never been printed but has had a massive impact on the game.[Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Budget Magic: Is $35 Mono-White Soldiers the Best Deck in Standard? --------------------------------------------------------------- 252435%2BMono-White%2BSoldiers-783fdbd4-9f91-45e8-ab37-9b255e6b34bd%2Ejpg Did we accidentally break Standard with a $35 Mono-White Soldier deck? Can any Mythic players on Magic Arena beat our budget brew? Let's find out![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive --------------------------------------------------------------- [Brotherhood's End](Brothers+War/Brotherhoods+End#paper) [Mycosynth Golem](Dawn/Mycosynth+Golem#paper) [Darksteel Colossus](Lair/Darksteel+Colossus-Optimus+Prime+-+Transformers+Optimus+Prime+vs+Megatron#paper) This week in the world of Magic finance the biggest winner was a new Standard card - [Brotherhood's End](Brothers+War/Brotherhoods+End#paper) - which doubled up from around $4.50 to $9. While the three mana red sweeper might look like just another [Anger of the Gods](Masters+2022/Anger+of+the+Gods#paper) or [Sweltering Suns](Suns#paper), the ability to destroy all the cheap artifacts on the battlefield has given the card relevance in older formats like Legacy and Modern where along with answering small creatures, [Brotherhood's End](Brothers+War/Brotherhoods+End#paper) can destroy the Constructs that [Urza's Saga](List/Urzas+Saga#paper) makes. This said, if you have random copies you aren't using, I'd lean towards selling or trading them away now. At its current price, [Brotherhood's End](Brothers+War/Brotherhoods+End#paper) is already tied with [Diabolic Intent](Brothers+War/Diabolic+Intent#paper) for the title of most expensive rare from The Brothers' War. As an in-print rare, it's hard to see prices going too much higher. Outside of Standard most of the focus is still on random artifacts that benefit from the theme of The Brothers' War in Commander. The biggest gainer this week was [Mycosynth Golem](List/Mycosynth+Golem#paper) which jumped another 63% to over $40. While all of these big artifact price spikes might seem like an overreaction, it's important to remember that Phyrexia and March of the Machines are both likely to be artifact-focused sets as well, so along with getting a Brothers' War bump, it's likely the demand for these cards will continue through the next six months as players continue to build new Commander decks. While buying cards that have already seen big price increases is painful, if you notice any artifact-themed cards that aren't too expensive, it might be worth picking them up now. Artifacts and artifact-support cards are likely to be the hot thing for the foreseeable future. Finally Wizards announced the December Secret Lair Super Drop this week and there are a few drops that seem to be a good deal from a financial perspective, assuming you need the cards. One of the Transformers themed drops has a [Blightsteel Colossus](Besieged/Blightsteel+Colossus#paper) (over $50), a [Darksteel Colossus](Colossus#paper) (over $10), and a [Doubling Cube](List/Doubling+Cube#paper) (roughly $15), offering over $80 of retail value for a $30 price tag. There's also a drop with [Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger](for+Zendikar/Ulamog+the+Ceaseless+Hunger#paper) (around $50 at retail prices) and the Special Guest: Kozyndan - Another Story drop has a $25 [Serra Ascendant](Masters/Serra+Ascendant#paper) and a $15 [Demonic Consultation](Age/Demonic+Consultation#paper). If you are in the market for any of these cards, you'll likely save some money by snagging the Lair drops compared to paying retail prices. --------------------------------------------------------------- Podcast 409: 30th Anniversary Edition "Sold Out" --------------------------------------------------------------- The crew talks Jumpstart 2022, more controversary regarding 30th Anniversary Edition and answers #MTGFishmail[Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Fish Five-0: We Solved Explorer! --------------------------------------------------------------- Eureka!
