[width="1"] [MTGGoldfish][Magic Newsletter] --------------------------------------------------------------- Rivals of Ixalan Spoilers — December 11, 2017 | Promotional Cards --------------------------------------------------------------- [Rivals of ixalan daily spoilers december 11]( Today we get a look at the promotional cards from Rivals of Ixalan.[Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Budget Magic: $87 (36 tix) Mono-Green Monument (Standard) --------------------------------------------------------------- [Mono green%2bmonument 981095af 274c 4f18 aca4 067db3e44415%2ejpg](2BMonument-981095af-274c-4f18-aca4-067db3e44415%2Ejpg) Can Rhonas's Monument make a mono-green stompy deck viable in Ixalan Standard? Let's find out![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive --------------------------------------------------------------- [Living End](Spiral/Living+End#paper)[Bazaar of Baghdad](Nights/Bazaar+of+Baghdad#paper)[Island](Foil/Island#paper) This week, the biggest finance news involves the new Mono-Blue Living End deck that has been putting up some results on Magic Online over the past week or two. The two key combo pieces, [Living End](Spiral/Living+End#paper) and [As Foretold](Foretold#paper), spiked, with [As Foretold](Foretold#paper) leading the way with an 80% increase to about $8. Normally the thing to do is sell into the hype, but with a Modern Pro Tour just around the corner in February, it might be smart to hold. If the deck manages to have a breakout performance on the big stage (which is admittedly a big "if"), prices could rise even more. The other big news of the week is that [Bazaar of Baghdad](Nights/Bazaar+of+Baghdad#paper) was bought out, more than doubling the price to over $2,200 a copy, which provides a reminder of the absurdity of the Reserved List. While only directly impacting a small number of players (would-be Vintage players, people building a powered cube, and maybe the most hardcore of Commander players), the fact that an uncommon costs as much as car is pretty unsettling. Finally, we have some supplemental product news this week. The supply of Iconic Masters seems to be essentially infinite, with boxes selling for $140 and boosters still on the shelves at big box stores, so don't expect cards from the set to recover quickly, if at all. Meanwhile, the foil basic lands from Unstable are super expensive — from $50 to $90 depending on the specific land — because they are rarer than usual since there's only a single version rather than four versions like in a Standard-legal set. If you happen to open one, you shouldn't have any troubling getting a good price. If all else fails, buylists are paying well. --------------------------------------------------------------- What Makes a Card Bannable in Standard? --------------------------------------------------------------- [Timthumb]( What causes Wizards to ban cards in Standard, and does the current Energy deck meet the criteria?
