--------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive ----

[MTGGoldfish][Magic Newsletter] [width="1"] --------------------------------------------------------------- Ranking Every Duskmourn Commander --------------------------------------------------------------- Tomer ranks all the new commanders from Duskmourn![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive --------------------------------------------------------------- [Pyrogoyf](Horizons+3+Commander/Pyrogoyf#paper) [Starfield of Nyx](Origins/Starfield+of+Nyx#paper) [Overlord of the Hauntwoods](House+of+Horror/Overlord+of+the+Hauntwoods#paper) This week in Magic finance the biggest gainer was [Pyrogoyf (extended)](Horizons+3+Commander/Pyrogoyf-extended#paper) from Modern Horizons 3 Commander. The four-drop shot up from around $1 to nearly $10 after showing up in some builds of Legacy Mono-Red Initiative and Mono-Red Painter. While the four-drop might be good in Legacy, it seems to have limited upside. Outside of [Disa the Restless](Horizons+3+Commander:Foil/Disa+the+Restless#paper), it doesn't see much Commander play and isn't even legal in Modern. Unless you need your copies for some reason I'd look to sell them into the hype. It seems like almost every set there's a new card that's good in Legacy Mono-Red, so even though [Pyrogoyf (extended)](Horizons+3+Commander/Pyrogoyf-extended#paper) might be the flavor of the month, there's no guarantee it won't fall out of favor for some other hot new finisher in a few months. Meanwhile, [Starfield of Nyx](Masters/Starfield+of+Nyx#paper) is on the rise thanks to all of the new enchantments in Duskmourn, although it works especially well with the new Overlords where you can cast them on the cheap for their impending cards and use [Starfield of Nyx](Masters/Starfield+of+Nyx#paper) to turn them into creatures to get their powerful attack triggers. As a result, the mythic enchantment increased over 200% to $14. Personally I've found [Starfield of Nyx](Masters/Starfield+of+Nyx#paper) to be a trap in Commander. While turning all of your enchantments into creatures can let you deal a ton of damage, it also opens up your enchantments to being swept away by a creature wrath, which makes the plan risky. The card has a long history of spiking when a new enchantment Commander releases before dropping, and I expect the same will be especially true this time thanks to a somewhat recent reprinting in Commander Masters which dropped the price from $12 down to $3. If you're building an enchantment deck, toss it in, otherwise unless the plan of animating impending creatures becomes a real thing in Pioneer or Modern, I expect its price will slowly fall as the newness of Duskmourn wears off. Speaking of Overlords, the biggest winner in Standard this week was [Overlord of the Hauntwoods (showcase japan - fracture foil)](House+of+Horror/Overlord+of+the+Hauntwoods-showcase+japan+-+fracture+foil#paper). The card looks very impressive during early access day and already has a pre-built home in Domain as a replacement for the rotated [Topiary Stomper](of+New+Capenna/Topiary+Stomper#paper). Toss in some potential demand from Modern and Commander and it's possible that in a few months, [Overlord of the Hauntwoods (showcase japan - fracture foil)](House+of+Horror/Overlord+of+the+Hauntwoods-showcase+japan+-+fracture+foil#paper)'s current price of $21 looks cheap. While there's a lot of uncertainty here, if you expect the card to see heavy play in Modern or Commander, I'd consider snagging copies now, because prices could climb even further. --------------------------------------------------------------- The Greatest Magic: the Gathering Plays of All Time --------------------------------------------------------------- Magic's had some amazing moments over the past 30 years. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
