Remember: No former president in U.S. history has ever been indicted. There has since been a flurry of analysis suggesting [an indictment could actually help his campaign](. But while it's a safe bet Trump will try to weaponize this for political gain, and he does have a remarkably loyal base, he's never been indicted. Plus, we've already seen cracks in the armor. [A new Iowa poll]( reported Republicans who would "definitely" vote for Trump in 2024 dropped 20 points since June 2021. And [earlier this week](, former Vice President Mike Pence admitted "history will hold Donald Trump accountable" for Jan. 6. Are there scenarios where Trump still runs away with the nomination? Of course. But could some voters also draw the line if he faces criminal charges? We just don't know yet. In the meantime, do yourself a favor… and don't freak out quite yet.
