The 14th Amendment to our Constitution states clearly that no person who has previously held elected office in the United States and then participates in an insurrection may ever hold public office again, which means that Trump is already disqualified from running in the 2024 election.1 Now all we have to do is call on secretaries of state—the officials who oversee the administration of elections at the state level—to follow the law and keep Trump off the ballot. MoveOn members worked for months in 2022 to ensure that Trump's hand-picked candidates for secretary of state, all of whom had pledged to help him steal the 2024 election, lost their races, and together we elected champions of our democracy who have pledged to protect our votes.
