Tell AmerisourceBergen: Distribute medication abortion in all states where abortion is legal! Sign the petition! [Sign the petition to tell AmerisourceBergen not to give in to right-wing pressure and make sure that the abortion pill is accessible across the country!]( Dear MoveOn member, Reports reveal that AmerisourceBergen—the country's sole distributor of mifepristone, the safe and vital abortion pill—circulated a list to corporate clients of 31 states where it will not distribute the pill to pharmacies.1 Clearly, the company is giving in to right-wing pressure and lawsuits designed to create chaos and restrict access—but mifepristone is still legal, it's critical for health care, and we can't let right-wing tactics limit access to this medication. Tell AmerisourceBergen: Don't give in to right-wing tactics and restrict access to mifepristone—keep this medicine accessible across the country. [Sign UltraViolet's petition]( It's a cruel plan that, if implemented, will have devastating consequences for people of color, people with low incomes, people with disabilities, immigrants, and those who live in medically underserved communities—all of whom already face barriers to receiving abortion care. More than 60 House Democrats, led by the House Democratic Women's Caucus, recently penned a letter to AmerisourceBergen demanding that it clarify its stance.2 We are in solidarity with them, but the time is now to go one step further and demand the pharmaceutical giant commit to distributing mifepristone in as many states as legally possible. Despite the lies of anti-abortion extremists, mifepristone, which has been widely and safely used by millions of people for 23 years, accounts for more than half of all abortions in the U.S. and is a necessary medication for those experiencing miscarriages as well. It is supported by hundreds of studies and has a proven safety rating of 99%.3,4 [Sign now to make it clear to this pharmaceutical giant that tens of thousands of consumers and customers are watching and are ready to hold it accountable if it caves to the anti-abortion minority.]( If AmerisourceBergen follows through with its cruel plan, it will be willfully ignoring years of science and putting our communities at more risk, out of fear of being harassed by an extreme anti-abortion minority. That's why we need to let the pharmaceutical giant know that we are on to it and will not let up the pressure until it answers to public health needs rather than extremist bullies. Let's get one thing crystal clear: The majority of people in the U.S. support legal and safe abortion, including access to mifepristone. Our right to decide if and when we start or grow our families should not be in the hands of anti-abortion extremist lawmakers and judges, much less a drug distributor.
