This week, some at-risk Americans will be eligible for their fourth COVID-19 vaccine shot. Dear Move

This week, some at-risk Americans will be eligible for their fourth COVID-19 vaccine shot. Dear MoveOn member, This week, some at-risk Americans will be eligible for their fourth COVID-19 vaccine shot.1 The CDC has approved a fourth COVID vaccine dose for people who are moderately or severely immunocompromised. Israel has gone farther and is already offering fourth doses to older adults.2 Yet only 63% of Americans are vaccinated, and just 37% have received a booster dose—in large part due to rampant misinformation about COVID and vaccines spread by Republican politicians.3,4 And now, with omicron spreading like wildfire throughout the country, more Americans are hospitalized with severe COVID-19 than at any other point in the pandemic, despite the availability of safe and effective vaccines.5 Make no mistake: Republican politicians have blood on their hands. They know the truth but care more about using the pandemic to sow division, rile up their base, and win elections than protecting their communities, saving lives, and bringing this pandemic to an end. To fight back against Republican misinformation and protect your vaccine card, we’re bringing back our FREE "Pro-Science, Pro-Health, Pro-Vaccine" vaccine card holders. [More than 600,000 MoveOn members have already ordered their FREE card holders. As parents in Georgia raised concerns about sending their children back to school last fall without school mask mandates, Kemp responded that masks were "a tool of government overreach."6 And in recent days as the omicron surge forced Kemp to dispatch the National Guard to Georgia hospitals and testing sites, he reiterated that he would not institute any public health mandates that "divide the vaccinated from the unvaccinated or the masked from the unmasked."7 More than 30,000 Georgians have died from COVID-19.8 In November, we can replace Kemp with one of the most inspiring leaders of our time, MoveOn member-endorsed Stacey Abrams. - Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson. Johnson has become one of the most unabashed spreaders of COVID-19 misinformation in elected government, with The New York Times calling him "the Republican Party's foremost amplifier of conspiracy theories and disinformation."9 He spent months proudly boasting that he was unvaccinated, suggested that allowing 3% of the U.S. population to die of COVID-19 would be acceptable to help the economy, said that mouthwash could kill the virus, and has repeatedly peddled utterly false statistics claiming that coronavirus vaccines have killed thousands of people.10,11 He does not belong in the Senate, and in November we have the chance to replace him with MoveOn member-endorsed Mandela Barnes, a progressive champion who will help turn the tide on Johnson's failures. - Florida Senator Marco Rubio. On the last day of 2021, as cases of the omicron variant were spiking out of control in Florida and around the country, Rubio tweeted that the coronavirus was nothing more than a "sore throat," that concerns about the rise in case numbers were "irrational hysteria," and suggested that people who test positive should continue going to work.12 Rubio has made it clear that he does not believe in science and thinks corporate profits are more important than the lives of Americans. We can and must defeat him in November. Over the next several weeks, MoveOn will be rolling out our grassroots plan to help kick these and other dangerous Republicans out of office this fall, but if you want to get involved right now—and protect your vaccine card from damage at the same time!—you can order one of our free "Pro-Science, Pro-Health, Pro-Vaccine" vaccine card holders to help spread the word and fight back against right-wing misinformation!
