[Support our nonprofit journalism]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter]( June 28, 2024 If you're worried about another Donald Trump presidency, [this is not a great day for you](. You are likely feeling a mix of despairâthe kind that apparently [prompts grown men to weep]( in foreign hotelsâand justified anger that previous concerns over the enormous risks of Joe Biden's age had gone dismissed. I certainly feel more of the latter. But trust me, this is not an "I told you so" sentiment, nor is it some kind of personal acceptance that Trump's return to the White House is inevitable. Instead, I feel somewhat encouraged now that many liberals, and even some of Biden's fiercest defenders, seem to understand that this president is a political liability. So will the real work to stop Trump start? As [Astead Herndon wrote]( last night, "I donât think the election is over. I think itâs just starting. Weâre finally out of the delulu phase. Country and parties both." But back to the despair. [Here's how David Corn described the meltdown](: Biden stumbled through 90 minutes, muffing answers, often looking uncertain, speaking in a low, gravelly voice that did not convey strength. This was not only a missed chance. It was a disaster. Afterward Democrats had good cause to be in despair and to wonder if disarray was on its way. At this point, I'm considering voting for my toddler and his authoritarian rule of ice cream and Bluey. [What about you](? If Biden steps aside, [who should replace him](? We'd love to hear from you. âInae Oh Advertisement [SOCAP]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [Trump Was the Trump We Know. Biden Was the Biden We Feared.]( Trump raged. Biden aged.
