S&P futures began today with little change, following Friday's nonfarm payroll report that showed 236,000 new jobs, indicating the ongoing strength of the US labor market. This will likely lead to the Federal Reserve raising interest rates by 25 basis points at its next meeting. Last week, the market was quite volatile, making it difficult for investors to make decisions. And we're already beginning to see the volatility creep up this morning as the market is rolling over a bit and giving up the gains it made on Friday. This kind of market environment is beneficial for algorithms and often causes individual investors to make hasty moves. This week we can expect updates on inflation, which will influence the Fed's decisions on interest rates in May, and earnings season starts on Tuesday. As we begin the week, there are a few key areas to watch. First, the future of energy production is shaping up to be a major battle between large US multinational corporations and OPEC, the oil-producing cartel. Last week, OPEC declared a daily reduction of 1 million barrels in oil production until the end of 2023. This decision suggests potential weakness in the global economy and the possibility of lower oil prices in the future. This development might affect the short-term profits of oil companies, and we will be looking closely at some intriguing names as we move forward. Second, as the Federal Reserve tries to control inflation, we could witness a rise in bankruptcies or a shift away from the struggling companies we've come to recognize. We will be discussing this significant trend further during today's Midday Momentum and in our Flashpoint Trader live session. ([become a flashpoint trader today to score on the energy trade]( On today's morning show we'll dive into Friday's payroll data and explore its impact on the Federal Reserve and the economy, especially as bankruptcies are on the rise. We're also thrilled to have Kenny "The Warlock" Glick, our favorite day trader, who will share his watchlist for the most important Earning's Season ever. Additionally, Chief Investment Strategist Shah Gilani will join us to discuss the ongoing commercial real estate crisis and what he's anticipating from Wednesday's Fed minutes. Last but not least, our volatility expert, Mark Sebastian, will be here to share his insights on the latest energy sector news and guide us through today's opening bell.
